Editor Common Issues - Read first!
This post will be used to answer common questions regarding use of The Escapists Prison Editor. Will keep updating it as issues arise.

Dancing/Spinning/frozen NPCs
If you have NPCs that dance, spin or are stuck, it usually means their route to the next waypoint is blocked.

Make sure you have no walls underneath doors or other objects or obstacle tiles in the way. You can hold the Q key in the editor to hide objects and see what's going on.

Can't walk through door
Make sure you haven't placed a wall tile underneath it. You can hold the Q key to hide objects in the editor and see what's going on.

Subscribed Maps Not Showing In-Game
Follow these steps if this applies to you;

1) Go to your Escapists folder in documents (usually Documents/$name/The Escapists or something similar). If there's no folder in here called 'Custom Maps', create it.

2) Unsubscribe from the map and subscribe again.

3) In your Steam Library, right click on The Escapists and click PROPERTIES. Go to LOCAL FILES and hit VERIFY INTEGRITY. This will force download any maps to your steam ugc folder.

4) Try loading the game again. On the map screen, it will pull any found .pmaps from your Steam ugc folder and put them into your Custom Maps folder and show in game. Note that some users have been uploading .proj files instead, which wont work.

Map Crashes In-Game
If your map crashes then it may be because of too many obstacle tiles. Usually occurs on maps where the majority of the tiles are water. Adding some changes for next build to avoid this issue.

99% Heat / Shot When Wake
Hold Q in editor to check the tiles under the bed or door you're walking through. If it's a ground tile (grass/snow etc) then the game will think you're outside and shoot you.

Unchippable Walls / Undiggable Floors / Uncuttable Fences
If it doesn't say the percentage of a wall or floor when you're trying to break through it on a custom prison, it often means you've loaded a save file on a prison that's been modified. When you save your game, it saves an array of the 'health' of walls/floors etc. If you then change your prison layout, that array won't work properly.

Open windows explorer > Libraries > Documents

A Guard will sometimes get stuck and Spin outside even with nothing around him. What can I do at that point?

As a sugestion, Once your prison is completed go to every door in the editor an delete it to see if there is a wall under it, if there was a wall just erase it and add your floor and then replace the door. This is all ways the case when your way points are spinning. Or you could press Q in the editor and remove walls in door.

This is kinda dumb but no one can tell me anything about this. When Im publishing to Steam Workshop what should I put for File and do I just put the URL for a immage?
EMERGENCY I WAS MAKING MY MAP AND I WENT TO MAKE A SHU ZONE AND IT DELETED EVERYTHING ALL THE OBJECTS

I have the spinning guard-bug too. But there are no obstacles in their way, if I understand that system correct. Also no walls under the doors.

So I made a map. I made a huge vent system, looks right, just like the vents in standard maps, but they just don't work. Once I climb into the vents, I can't move, so all I can do is go back down. Is there a fix?

Can you guys tell me how to fix the to many jobs thing when validating the map. Because when I try to get rid of some jobs it tells me that I have to place the ones I just got rid of. Also I dont know how to re-open the job/Primeter/prison editor. Please I need feedback nvm I actually just found out sorry for me being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥

Sometimes the tile values get corruped, try repainting over ones where you think the issue lies
