you now buy skins, you can summon mounts, ships and cars...instead of actually having a journey and exploring a big map, you just go from place to place while not needing to worry about a single thing, game is insane easy now and doesn't feel like a big adventure anymore, before you actually had to think about going on a big journey and not just be able to summon anything any time
You could also get lost forever if you didn't spend all your time watching for seagulls. There was no tech tree. There was no map. Every new game you started only had 5-13 islands in total. There wasn't even half the content or POI we have now. There were no mounts. You couldn't summon your ship. You couldn't have multiple ships. You couldn't fly. And on and on and on and on.
Not sure why the guy above thinks it is worse but I'm willing to bet he only owns one pair of shoes and they are flipflops so his argument is invalid, and frankly, dumb.
I disagree 100%. If it was better at launch then why did no one stick around? The bait and switch happened 2 years later because nobody was playing. The only thing I miss from launch is dark nights and violent storms. The storm sea state back then was insanely scary and I LOVED it.
