it got better lol
not sure why the guy above thinks it is better

you now buy skins, you can summon mounts, ships and cars...instead of actually having a journey and exploring a big map, you just go from place to place while not needing to worry about a single thing, game is insane easy now and doesn't feel like a big adventure anymore, before you actually had to think about going on a big journey and not just be able to summon anything any time

I don't know maybe if you played the game a little longer you will discover many challenges to face. Now in order to take out an specific enemy effectively you need weapons with different enchantments like a rifle with fire damage and a rifle with electric damage. Some enemies are resistant to to one and not the other. Some enemies are resistant to both and only take blunt damage, some are more prone to regular guns. In the arctic biomes you have to have heat to survive. unless you have a suit on like the heavy diving suit. And the enemies are resistant to cold damage and prone to fire damage. while diving its a challenge because you never know if you are going to get the resource you need on that dive. its always a gamble. which makes the game better and more enjoyable. also on the arid biome i believe you have ghosts that spawn at certain locations only at night. witch makes things interesting, and gives a challenge. If you think its a walk in the park you my friend are wrong. have you ever tried one of there maps with a puzzle? that can be fun and quite a challenge.

You could also get lost forever if you didn't spend all your time watching for seagulls. There was no tech tree. There was no map. Every new game you started only had 5-13 islands in total. There wasn't even half the content or POI we have now. There were no mounts. You couldn't summon your ship. You couldn't have multiple ships. You couldn't fly. And on and on and on and on.

Not sure why the guy above thinks it is worse but I'm willing to bet he only owns one pair of shoes and they are flipflops so his argument is invalid, and frankly, dumb.

All the things you mention are the reasons why the game was way better once upon a time.

I disagree 100%. If it was better at launch then why did no one stick around? The bait and switch happened 2 years later because nobody was playing. The only thing I miss from launch is dark nights and violent storms. The storm sea state back then was insanely scary and I LOVED it.

Just like your contribution to this thread.
I miss most that you actually had to sail and get lost and finding new islands as suprises was better. Storms I also miss the storms. But once they changed how to sail and navigate it got to easy for me and the fun was gone so it was hard to come back.

It's still the best building game I've played... it does have low challenge... it's very casual... if you're looking for action, better look elsewhere... but if you grew up playing with Legos and want that experience digitally, you won't find better than this game. I play 7daystodie, Ark, Empyrion, and this. I play survive/craft/build games almost exclusively... and this is probably my favorite that I play the least just because it's the most lonely... it deserves more players. It deserves a top YouTuber's coverage. I'd love to see Neebs Gaming take on this game.
