Legend of Grimrock much?
Just saw the trailer and it looks like a cheap version of Legend of Grimrock. Even the secret buttons look almost identical. How does it compare?

Wow - some people are really hung up on Legend Of Grimrock :) This style of game has been around for more than 25 years!
The style of game may have been around for 25 years but Legend of Grimrock may be some peoples first encounter with this style of game hence using it as a reference or comparison. Not all players were around to play Dungeon Master which is still the best of the dungeon crawlers.
This style of game was around a very long time ago, and then it went away for a very long time, and then was inexplicably brought back with Legend of Grimrock.
eh, i know what dungeon crawlers are tyvm. I did play dungeon master, lands of lore and eye of the beholder. I was just mentioning Legend of Grimrock because that was the most recent game of this type that I thought of, and in the video around 0:22 it looks exactly like a Legend of Grimrock secret.

Yeah was not a dig at your knowledge on the game mate whether you know what a dungeon crawler was or not, it was the devs response that he just assumed went on about people being hung up on Legend of Grimrock and that you cant always assume the people posting have experienced the genre over 25 years.

Hunt The Wumpus much?

Space War much?

Horace Goes Skiing much?

Chuckie Egg much?

Attack of the Zombie Mutant Chickens much?

Tree of Life much?
Dungeon crawler much? First person grid based movement games will always have similarities, can't be helped if it's designed to stay true to the genre.

Looks like a good addition to the genre.

Can you tell more? Why do it look like a good addition to the genre?
I have to admit that because of the rescent flow of cellphone games ports an other dubious games on steam, I feel like I have to be quite cautious about this game even if I like the genre.

Only played about an hour so...but for 6 euros, you can't go wrong here, especially since there are so few (new) crawler-type games on pc these days (i don'T have a mobile device)...even if its a mobile port...

Well, a mobile port doesn't nessesarily mean it's going to suck.

Mealtdown is a fine example. A good game is a good game, and we shouldn't get hung up about where it started life or what went before it. The important thing is the quality of the game and the enjoyment you believe you can glean from it. That's all that should matter.

Well as pointed out by others the genre was defined a long time ago, I've still got my old Dungeon Master snes cartridge, it's played with 4 directional buttons and a small assortment of action and modifier functions across the other 8 buttons. This genre requires no more functionallity than that.

The thing with ports from mobile devices tends to be that the interface vastly differs to that of a pc or console, but this fits touch screen and physical controls aswell. Infact many dungeon crawlers even have a clickable GUI to control every aspect of the game, this is well suited to touch screen.

As I've also played similar pc classics using dos box on a tablet I see no reason why a mobile port would be such a bad thing in this instance. Besides from what I've read a substantial portion of new content has been added, so a straight port this isn't.
