really dont get this game !!! by turn 48 game crashed took over 5 mins to take next turn also the court system is bugged were you cant take a turn and its not my end my rig is i7 and 2070 card give them time to fix this has happened several times now gutted tbh rome rocked in its day

Dynasties is, at the most essential level, a disappointment.

Its announcement offered historical TW players some hope that CA might be course correcting by providing us with a "real" historical entry, perhaps with a few new innovations (which have essentially been absent for over a decade now).

Instead what we got was a mediocre and tacked on bunch of disconnected, lifeless features that do little to disabuse one of the feeling that every game is now just a MOD of TW Warhammer. Seriously, every feature now seems geared towards stat buffs rather than game play and immersion. Just look at the tech-tree, it's the same as Pharaoh's and is nothing but a glorified stat buff sheet. Why even bother wasting time with a "tech" tree? This is a pattern which repeats across the game, giving every bit of flavour a tedious, tepid and shallow taste. A great case in point are the generals... not only do they all look the same, but their traits are meaningless to a player beyond... you guessed it.. stats. There is no RP to be had here, there is no immersion and there certainly isn't any fun after the first campaign or two.

Another gripe is the art and music direction... The Bronze Age, to modern eyes, was a weird f'ing place that teemed with life. You wouldn't know that by playing this game... the campaign map is what I would call hygienic... even minimalist. Sure it's easier to look at than whatever the F is going on with WH 3's mess of a world, but it's clinical to a fault... The models all look too clean, the textures and colours look like they came out of a candy shop. As for the soundtrack, there isn't much to say, it's safe and uninspired and leads to zero audial immersion, I also think that the sound mixing for this game seems rather muted.

Whatever the haters want to say about Troy's Truth Behind the Myth mod, it was an interesting take on a strange period in human development, it was weird and it added flavour and I don't understand the hate for it. Such an approach would have been very much welcome in Dynasties' highly clinical design.

The much vaunted family tree system is poorly realised and, like so many of the "new" features it's late addition into the Pharaoh game is apparent from its complete detachment from the rest of the game.

As for gameplay... what gameplay?

Detachment and emptiness... ennui. Ennui is the overriding feeling you get when playing Pharaoh, your own, the game's and CA's.

Don't waste your time with this game, or with CA anymore, this company is a phantom selling you wolf tickets to a game that will never arrive.

When Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties was announced, expectations were high. A new entry in the Total War series set in Ancient Egypt seemed like an exciting opportunity to explore an underutilized historical setting. Unfortunately, the execution leaves much to be desired, making this game feel like a disappointing step backward for the franchise.

One of the most glaring issues is the unit models. For a game released in 2024, the models are shockingly outdated, with textures that look flat and lack detail. Soldiers on the battlefield lack individuality, and their animations feel stiff and robotic. In a genre where immersion is driven by the visual spectacle of massive armies clashing, this lack of polish is a massive letdown.

The user interface is another major problem. It’s cluttered, unintuitive, and visually unappealing. Key information is buried under unnecessary menus, and the icons look amateurish, like placeholders from a decade ago. The UI feels like a chore to navigate, which is especially frustrating in a strategy game where clarity is paramount.

Overall, Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties feels like a relic of the past rather than a modern 2024 title. It lacks the technical and artistic refinement expected of contemporary strategy games. Fans of the series and newcomers alike will likely find themselves frustrated and underwhelmed by this lackluster offering.
