Still this is only an issue cause I had a HD fail but for some weird reason steam along with all my games including this game is on a dedicated game drive. The files how ever arent saved on the game drive for some reason they were saved on the primary OS drive and when that failed I lost all my files for that. If the cloud had functioned as it should have, I wouldnt have lost all that as the cloud would have had the files saved there as well. I didnt have this issue with my other games but this game I did.
So yes not using the cloud to be safe is one thing but I wasnt using it for my primary save location, my primary save location was local, that drive how ever failed, the cloud was a back up to prevent the loss of data in cases like this.
We have cloud saving turned on to allow for Automation to be used through GeForce Now, and also because it does help sync profiles if you are playing the game on multiple computers.
That said, it's not mandatory - you can turn it off in your Automation properties in Steam.
