can i just boot the game?
I saw some people saying you gonna have to download a lot of mods just to make the game playable, does this remain true or was it fixed?

I never installed any mods for this game (the first game of the trilogy).
In this trilogy I only needed to install a "Memory Patch" for "Final Fantasy XIII-2", to fix some random crashes. And I was able to finnish both games without a problem, as you can see from my profile.

I am not a person of Mods, for this reason I only install when it is needed, such as FF13-2. Usually Mods can interfer with each other and make the game unplayable, make sure you install the minimum needed.

:)

There is no need for any mods in this game in order to make it work.

Only two unofficial game fixes. One to improve performance and fix UI in 1080p and higher resolution, and the other one to increase max RAM usage by the game in order to prevent crashes when playing in UHD resolution.

I installed nothing just hit play, adjust your setting to what you think is best for your system. Note game will shudder till you plug in a controller.

I am at the opposite side of the spectrum.
I have to turn off a bunch of security parameters on my BIOS every single time I want to play the game...
I adjust my parameters, click on play... And nothing happens...
Not a single mod actually helps me...

I've had a couple of crashes but apart from that it works almost perfectly for me.

Check to make sure your pc is updated fully as well including your bios, if your having to turn things off might be a place to start.

I was worried I'd have to download a bunch of things from shady places to get it to play, but it surprisingly runs on its own. Some textures are a little low-res, but it's not too bad.

Lower the shadow resolution to equal that of your monitor resolution.
512 = 720p
1024 = 1080p
2048 = 1440p
4096 = 4k
8192 = 8k

If your shadow resolution is set above your display resolution the game goes nope not playing

so what worked for me is adding ffxiiimg (not the launcher) to the exemption list for DEP.

Step-by-step for windows users (im on w11)

1. win+R, then type "sysdm.cpl" without "" then press enter/click ok

2. click advanced

3. click settings under performance

4. go to data execution prevention

(it should be on by default)

5. click add, then find ffxiiimg, select it and click ok/add.

there ya go it should be on the list. Hope this helps!
