Stuck at high stakes quest help

So there a part of the quest where you invitigate a crime scene using your witcher sense in a room in an inn. The problem is i jump from the roof from the in i thought the clue maybe out there because i alredy search every nook and crany of the room and can't seem to find it and i try to go back to the in again and gues what, i cant enter it says the door is unlocked. So anyone can help me find the sulution ? (sory fot my bad inglish)

Load an earlier save.
From the crime scene, follow the evidence to the balcony.
Check the balcony... all of it... with a magnifying glass... for a crossbow bolt.
