Is the game heavy on the visual novel aspect?

Watched some reviews and was interested if this game has more "gameplay" than visual novel? I do enjoy jrpgs but not so much visual novel games. I did enjoy 13 Sentinels and Digimon Survive as there were some good "gameplay"section but games like Zero Time Dilemma were a chore to finish.

Yes it is, you do have some exploration phases and a few puzzles, but in comparison they are minimal an slightly linear. This game is mostly a visual novel at its core.
If you didn't like ZTD perhaps its not for you (though that one is rough compared to the other two Zero Escape titles, not sure if you played those)
