What I ended up doing was I tried recovering a very old account, and the captcha system hindered it. If you can do anything about it, please let me know.

That's an odd situation. I haven't seen such reports from our users yet.
What device are you trying to create an account on? What operating system does it have?
Did you try a different device? A mobile phone, a tablet?
Account creation process is critical for our players and if there was a widespread issue like this, we would be quickly made aware of it.
