As the final worth-while game in this great stealth-action series, it is the most exciting to play, and to experience. The gameplay is superb. Extraordinary. Completely ahead of it's time, blowing most "AAA" games out the water with its freedom of gameplay, simulation of a real-world sandbox with great Ai, and its great physics. Everything is extremely polished in this game.
The story and cinematic experience is unrivalled in most of the Metal Gear series, and this game makes use of that in a tasteful way, providing a good balance between gameplay and narrative, while leaving extra information easily accessible in cassette tapes. The story itself is captivating and has many good moments.
I've yet to finish this game, but I'm definitely hooked.

As a long-time fan of the Metal Gear series, Metal Gear Solid V left me with mixed feelings. I’m someone who absolutely adores Peace Walker but can’t stand MGSV’s approach to certain elements. And yet, here I am, surprised by how much I actually enjoy playing it.

The gameplay is undeniably fun. The way MGSV plays is fluid, and the freedom it offers with different strategies makes every mission feel customizable. The fights against Quiet, Skullface, and The Man on Fire stood out as my favorites. I came prepared, whether it was with my trusty sniper rifle, homing rocket launcher, or—yes—even a water pistol. These bosses? Easy. Seriously, Reddit overhyped their difficulty. But their impact? Massive.

Miller and Ocelot are the best part of the game. It’s like having two dads with totally different parenting styles: Miller, the strict one who’s against everything cool, and Ocelot, the chill one who’s like, “Yeah, do it, sounds awesome!” Their dynamic is one of the few things that keeps the more serious tone of MGSV tolerable.

But let’s talk about what doesn’t sit right. The Side Ops. Boring. Peace Walker had ridiculous missions and even a Monster Hunter collab—here, it's all so serious. And the way you handle GMP and development in real-time? That’s just tedious compared to Peace Walker’s approach, where GMP wasn’t a permanent loss. MGSV's realism sucks out some of the charm that made Peace Walker goofy and fun.

That said, the buddy system is a major win. D-Horse, D-Dog, and Quiet? So much fun to experiment with. D-Dog, especially, holds a special place in my heart—what a good boy. He’s probably one of the most useful and lovable companions in the entire series.

In the end, Metal Gear Solid V isn’t bad. It’s just tedious, a different kind of game that doesn’t fully capture the spirit of the series. It reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy, where each entry brings something new but still keeps enough familiar elements to connect it to the rest of the series.

Would I recommend MGSV? Sure, but only if you’re ready for a shift in tone and pacing. It’s not the Metal Gear we grew up with, but it’s still got some redeeming qualities.
