For new players it's not always possible to find a ranked match right away. We didn't want to add bots to ranked because this is not why you queue for PvP. But we think we found a way to solve the core issue while keeping it a 100% optional.

When you queue for ranked as a Bronze or Silver player, if you don't find a match in about 1 minute you get an invite from a ranked bot. If you decline you will stay in the queue. If you accept you can rank up to Silver or Gold rank where it will be easier to find real matches!

• there are different bots with their own rank and unique play style
  
• just like in normal PvP you will get extra coins and VP rewards
  
• you will not get the invite when you play a standard AI match while in the queue

These changes make everything much more intuitive and streamlined. I will explain the system as a whole in more detail below.

• Reduced strength: Medal multipliers are now: Silver: 1x, Gold: 5x, Super: 10x, Ban: -9x.
  
• Everyone now has a Silver medal for each card they own and collects Gold medals as before.
  
• Having no medals on a card is no longer an option, as it was a source of confusion.
  
• AI no longer has medals
  
• Playing the Expansion missions (DLC) now rewards both the Expansion Gold medal and a Base set Gold medal

Let's start with Silver medals. By default, you have a Silver medal on each card you own. When you play a match vs AI, this means you bring all your cards with a 1x multiplier. Each card then has an equal chance to get selected for your Shop, and the same for the AI's Shop.

In PvP it works similarly, except now there are 2 sets of medals that get combined, your set and the enemy's set. An example:
Let's say you have only the Base game and your enemy has DLC. Then a Base set card, like Tanya, will have 2 medals and thus a 2x multiplier. A DLC card, like Scientist, will have 1 medal and thus a 1x multiplier. This means for both of your Shops, Tanya is 2x more likely to be selected than Scientist.

• Everyone has the same fair chance, even if you have a small collection.
  
• You can sometimes play with cards you don't have
  
• You are more likely to play with cards you are familiar with

OK, those are the basics. If you understand how that works, the only extra thing is that there are different types of medals that have different multipliers. Gold medals are the next type of medal you will get.

Where Silver medals have a 1x multiplier, Gold Medals have a 5x multiplier, which is a big step up. Let's start with how you get them. Every time you win a match, you will get a Gold medal for a Base set card, so eventually you will have all 40 of them. For the DLC, there is a mission for each card that you can play to collect the Gold medal for that card. You can find these missions in the Collect menu. If you only play PvP, you will get them after you collected all the Base set ones.

Now that you have both Silver medals and Gold medals, you can choose for each card which one you want to use.
I would say there are 3 main ways to use your medals:

1. Select all Gold medals. This makes for the most variety, and is a good default.
   
2. Select all Gold medals you have, and put a Silver medal on cards you don't like very much.
   
3. Select all Silver medals, and put a Gold medal on cards you really want to play with.

To round up, there are two more types of medals: Super medals and Ban medals.
Super medals give you even more control over what shows up in your matches, with a multiplier of 15x.
Ban medals can be used on cards you really dislike, with a multiplier of -14x you will basically never see them in your matches. You will get these medals as rewards for leveling up.

Exciting news y'all, we’re getting close to the Q1 release of Tuggowar!

That's why we’re announcing the last major gameplay changes. Let's give these a thorough test!

The map now has 25 lands instead of 30. We felt aggro could use a buff and this makes for a better UX on Steam Deck! We’ve introduced some balancing factors though. Nation & Superpower now have 1 defense…

...and several Base set cards have been reworked accordingly:

• Tech Race costs 4 energy (was 3).
  
• Combat Drone has Cooldown 2 (was 0).
  
• Nuclear Missile has Build time 3 (was 4).

The information game has been tweaked. Inform still scouts the enemy's location, but not the lands itself, making it easier to hide bases.

Interestingly, Inform is no longer a hidden event. So the enemy now knows when you know what they know, and the other way around 😉 By keeping tabs on Informs throughout a match you’ll be able to establish a game sense of your opponent’s strategic knowledge. Do they inform a lot or a little? Can you maybe sneak in a Nuclear Missile??!!

After community feedback the AI has been tuned to play less aggressively. The Hard AI has received a major update as well, particularly to better deal with the 5 card max.

Bringing down the number of Coal down to 5 in the starting deck has put the pure fun of deckbuilding center stage. Your buys show up sooner and you get to play with your deck longer. What’s not to love?!

Today we’re taking it a step further. We're juicing up the base set by boosting the variety of card effects. Starting with a new card called Broker!

Broker brings a unique cost reduction effect to the base set. Quickly stock up on some sweet supportable Action cards or push with Units. There's also potential for some epic finishing moves! 😉

Next, we're moving Watermill to the base set. It introduces some sweet new combo and counter options. Can you find them all?!

The other side of the coin is removing some effects that were a bit too dominant. As mentioned by the community, too many games involved a Windmill chain. We got it, it’s gone as a shop card. You can still make Windmill decks of course using Carbon Tax or by capturing a Lowland (+Double Down?!).

Clean-up cards were used a lot and often the target of an instant Counterfeit. We also felt clean-up is not as necessary with less junk in the starting deck. That's why we’ve removed Repurpose (but it will return in an expansion 😉) and moved Manage Arsenal to Tier 2.

Finally, there are some other balance changes based on the most recent stats and insights:

• Refuel no longer gives +Energy.
  
• Shopkeeper now adds card of cost 5 or less (up from 4).
  
• Energy Upgrade has Cooldown 3 (down from 5).
  
• Master Tactician now looks for 5 different Actions/Units (up from 4).

The fun of Tuggowar is in adding cards to your deck and getting to play them, and we wanted this to happen faster. We think these changes will make the game more accessible and more fun in general!

• The starting deck now has 5 Coal (down from 7).
  
• The MAX for all cards is now 5 copies (down from 7).
  
• Bank is now available to all players.

We received feedback from the community that having different cards from your enemy in PvP doesn't feel fair.
We believe this is how Tuggowar is the most fun, but we will let you decide what feels best to you!

Mirror Mode takes a more prominent role and is the default for new players, in Mirror Mode...

• You play with the exact same starting Shop as your Enemy.
  
• Each Tier has 4 cards instead of 3.
  
• When one player has Mirror Mode on and the other doesn't, it will be 50/50.

Finally, Field Howitzer is renamed to Rocketeer and got a new look!
