F1 2015: PC Patch (And More)
To kick things off, I’m Jenny, the new Social Media Manager for the F1 community. I know what you’re thinking: “Not another new community voice!” But I can assure you that I’m here for the long haul! You may well have already seen my posts on our social channels for the past couple of weeks, but rest assured that my focus is now going to be switched onto F1 moving forwards.

In terms of my role, you’ll be happy to know that I've been specifically hired to bridge the gap between Codemasters and the community. Some of you are no doubt looking for an update with regards to F1 2015 patches. So without any further ado, here are some updates:

F1 2015 - PATCHES

In the next week or so, we’ll be releasing our next PC patch. We have been working hard to try to address a number of issues that you have raised, and a special thanks goes to those of you who have provided extensive information and feedback in order to help us to track the issues down. Perhaps the most notable change is the addition of a multiplayer session list to allow you to search for all public sessions, in addition to numerous other multiplayer, AI and game fixes, as well as the first of our post launch ‘2015 season sports updates’ and a number of high end PC enhancements.

Here you can find the specifics of what will be covered in the patch:

Game

  • Added a session list screen which is available via the Multiplayer menu. This screen will allow players to search for all public sessions and join the one they want to. Custom and Hopper sessions will be visible on this list.

  • Multiplayer fixes and improvements:
    • Added additional information to lobbies so players can see how much progress has been made in the current session.

    • Parc ferme rules are no longer incorrectly applied so players will not get their fuel locked to 100kg in qualifying or not be able to change their tyres at the start of a race if they qualified outside the top ten.

    • Fixed an issue that would cause a players car to always be ghosted during timed qualifying sessions.

    • Fixed framerate and lag spikes causing incorrect collisions.

    • Fixed a bug that meant connections with limited upload bandwidth would appear laggy while on track and eventually disconnect.

    • Disallowing Brake Assist will no longer also block ABS.

    • Cars will no longer ghost when driving too slowly on track.

    • Fixed a bug which made the screen pulse black when spectating specific cars in specific circumstances.

    • Minor hopper improvements and changes
      • Removed the AI from all hoppers.

      • Removed the assist restrictions from the Hardcore hopper.

  • Made the countdown timer longer and prevented it from starting for a short time if there are not many players in the session to try to allow more people to join.

  • Changed the grid order to random from realistic. So now the players Mercedes cars will not always start on the front row.

  • Updated the Feature Race to Brazil.

  • Removed the incorrect second DRS detection zone from the Mexico mini map. This was not present in the actual track data.

  • Corrected the number of laps for the Mexican Grand Prix.

  • The player is now correctly disqualified for not using both compounds in a dry weather race.

  • Improvements to AI behaviour in Qualifying:
    • AI will no longer all leave the garage at the same time.

    • AI will no longer use Prime tyres in Q2.

    • AI will always do two runs in Short Qualifying and Q3.

    • Fixed the flashing rear tyre issue present on some PC setups.

  • Made the D-Pad menu more responsive to use.

  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause OSD messages to remain on screen or to never display. This was mostly reported online but can be seen offline too.

  • Fixed an issue that would cause new tyres to be too cold when they’re put on at a pit stop.

  • Fixed a problem that could cause unrealistic lap times in practice and qualifying.

Sports Updates – Part 1
  • Adjusted the relative performance of the teams and drivers based on the season’s results so far.

  • Updated the tyres for Russia to Super Soft and Soft.

High End PC Enhancements
  • New CPU-driven particle effects to improve visual quality on systems with high-end CPUs. Select “high” or “ultra” particle effects from the options menu.

  • Increased audio voice counts for systems with high-end CPUs. Select the “high” audio quality setting from the option menu.

  • Improved CPU performance for users with 6 and 8+

  • Improved CPU performance for Intel CPUs with Hyper-Threading Technology.

  • Optimised performance for Intel integrated graphics chips.

In addition to the above, we’re also working on the second part of our seasonal sports updates, which will include some updated visual changes to a number of the cars. Please note that we do not have free rein to include every change that has happened; we are at the mercy of working with each individual team in terms of the updates that they would like us to include. As soon as all of the updates are signed off, I’ll let you know more of the specifics.

So that’s how the patch roadmap is shaping up currently. Following that we’ll continue to closely monitor your feedback as we head into the New Year, and as our focus inevitably turns more towards next year…

GETTING IN TOUCH

After reading this you’ve, no doubt, got plenty of questions/queries (and quite rightly too). We’ll be answering as many as we can on here, but there’s plenty of ways to get in touch: leave a message here, or say hello on the community forums[forums.codemasters.com], leave a message/tweet the official Facebook[www.facebook.com] page/Twitter account!

You can read more in our blog here[blog.codemasters.com]!

In the meantime, I’ll bring you more updates as I get them. For now, thanks for your continued support, and I’ll have more for you soon!

Well, hello Jenny.

It's great to finally have someone to talk to when it comes to the game.
(Just be prepared for an awful lot of haters in here)

Is the stickied thread still the best place to post about issues, or has that changed?
I'd like to help as much as possible to improve the game for everyone!

These fixes are all welcome , but the major problem for PC users with Nvidia GFX cards is the poor choice of Antialiasing modes , namely no MSAA as offered in previous titles .
Also the washed out blurry look of F1 2015 is a big step back from F1 2014 and earlier titles.
I have a fast i7 system with a GTX 980 card , 16GB ram etc and this game looks the worst I've seen for years . PCars is in another class. Will you be giving us PC users the game we all thought we were getting and deserve ?

There are important points missing for a simulation game :
1) Modding capacity. your .erp archives files are a real pain for modders. This make the game lifetime a lot shorter.
2) Multiplayer friendly. your game is not multiplayer friendly. Creating COOP is only possible with a sheet of paper to write down the results. Creating Public lobby is not possible. Only joining an automatic created session or play with people in your friendlist. This make the game lifetime a lot shorter.
3) No Career Mode. You released the game too fast and you'll add the feature back in F1 2016. It's robbing people who bought F1 2015. This make also the game lifetime a lot shorter.
4) Not supporting controllers. When developping a simulation game, it's better to include as many controllers as possible. This make also the game lifetime a lot shorter.

The game isn't worth the price. For half the price, you get F1 2013 with career mode, safety car, mutli coop, public lobby, modding capacity, controller fully supported, more force feedback, ... and also more confortable for low end PC. I feel Codemasters fooled a lot of fans with F1 2015.

Also I've read your "copy and paste" post all around now (blog.codemasters, facebook, italian web site, ....) It's fine to see that CTRL+C and CTRL+V have a good usage at codemasters.

Also I don't understand codemasters's approach. Codemasters is in the driving simulation game for a very long time now. They should be very aware of what are players expectations in that genre. My first codemasters game was "Colin McRae Rally 2.0". It was an amasing game for the time. And I'm sure that every new game that comes out give you more and more experience.

And today I see F1 2015. Bad Reviews everywhere. Lot of Bugs. Missing Features, Disappointed users, Web racing leagues angry, ...and then suddenly communication :
"1) welcome me the new voice of codemasters
2) we are listening to you
3) we all moved to F1 2016 already
4) we need you to test F1 2016
5) stay in touch from the very beginning even the design phase...."

What's wrong at codemasters ? Did you miss a step somewhere ?

Or maybe "the master of code" just left the office ?

I still think you've the competence and knowledge to bring good games to the market but what you did with F1 2015 will stay in my memory for a long time.

Its very sad what im reading but its all true. If you pay such a lot of money, you are expecting working stuff. Even F1 2014 was bad, but this is disaster. If codies cant releace game properly works, maby they have to take more time to. "We all moved to F1 2016"??? What??? I already payed for game suposed to work and you are moving thing to another game and expect i will buy it???. Sorry codies until i know the game is playeble, I WILL NOT. Have your games since 2011. And to 2013 was all great. You should thing about the F1 2016 discount or free, for all who has F1 2015 as a compensation.

Hi Jenny,
I contunie the topics and forums about F1 2015 updates and patching from the beginning, but suprised that nobody nowhere mentioned yet what for Im begging: AI realism.
Im not interested in multi, i prefer like offline gaming against AI with 100% realism set up full long races weekends etc...but for me its really very boring and unrealistic that the AI never has any mechanic failure, doesnt crash, or even they crash they no retire just come back to track and continue their race without issues...or go into pit but continue also....do the Codemaster developing team follow up the F1 championship how its working in the real life ?
From the 20 pilot always finish maximum 12-14 with normal sunny weather conditions. Ive already completed 2 seasons in expert level, but I could count on my half hand how many cars retired...this is not realistic.
Could anything be developed ? Or if you could tell me how and where I can set up this only for myself manually, that would be great.
Thanks
lolschrauber 12 Nov, 2015 @ 10:38am
AI sometimes does have technical failures, it's just rare.
Puder Agent 12 Nov, 2015 @ 2:17pm
still not enogh often, should be 5 times more often as per race not as per a whole championship
Puder Agent 13 Nov, 2015 @ 7:35am
Btw if this AI and race realism would be fixed, Im very happy with the updates, with ultra high graphics I have nothing fps problem or lag, especially the motion blur can be set up so I can turn it off and finally the races as sharp es they have to be, never had any frozen or system crashes to say something positive (playin on PC platorm with keyboard and offline, so havent got experiences with multi game or other controllers).
So if the realistic damage of AI could be change somehow for me this would be the best F1 edition from Codies (okay, career mode and sc missing, but next time hope they will come back)
Raschieryck 17 Nov, 2015 @ 11:48pm
After november patch, the game is running at 10 fps in a high-end PC.. for a middle range PC is OK .. what happen ?? how can I solve it ?
Despues del parche de noviembre, el juego esta corriendo en 10 fps en una PC buena, y en una PC gama media el juego corre perfectamente bien. Que paso? como puedo solucionarlo?
Slick 19 Nov, 2015 @ 12:48am
i am still having fps problem in high end pc as well, seems in consistant though, sometime i can run game with no probs, other times no good. Also , used to be only in championship with problem .......now in quick race as well. have tried most things others have suggested.......VERY FRUSTRATING !!
