A major content update for SGRAW is here! One arena has been completely reworked, and two new arenas are available to fight in.

NEW ARENAS:

THE WASTELAND (Redux)

The wasteland arena has been rebuilt from scratch. What started out as an effort to fix geometry issues turned into an overhaul of the layout. The original intent of a free-flowing map remains intact.

THE MOON

This place was originally built to be a mining rig to harvest ancient energies. Now? It's a battlefield.

THE SPACESHIP

A former plaza for residents onboard, now turned into a combat arena after a recent collapse.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Collect them all! Or don't - whatever works for you.

OTHER CHANGES:

Aim sensitivity should now be consistent regardless of framerate
Add "End Run" button to the pause menu
Fix some enemies not aiming at the player when firing
Add more images to ad billboards
Monkey-bars should be easier to grab now
Implement haptic feedback for DualSense controllers (Experimental, USB only)
The player should no longer spawn inside floors and walls when falling off the map or using the "Wrong Warp" debuff
"Last enemy remaining" indicators are now visible through everything
Add "Animation Quality" setting to the options menu
More performance improvements (Shader compilation stutter is still an issue for now)

OTHER INFO:

First of all, thank you so much for giving SGRAW a go and helping shape it. It might not be up there with the big leagues in terms of indie shooters, but it's still gone farther than I ever thought it would.
That said, I've been working on this game for over a year and a half now. While it's grown quite big and can grow further, it's also become a huge pain to maintain.
I'll skip the semantics: the plan for now is to make one more update to improve performance where possible, then move on to new projects. Can't stay doing the same thing forever.

V1.2 - Patch Notes

A major content update for SGRAW is here! Three new weapons added to your arsenal, with new enemies to use them on and more shop items to buy with your hard-earned tokens.

NEW WEAPONS:

BURST

Fires in three-round bursts. Kinda looks like a kitten.
Well-rounded rifle. Missed shots stick to the ground, and can be picked back up.

COOLER

💀❄ AWESOME SKULL THAT BREATHES FROST LIKE A FLAMETHROWER ❄💀
Close-range annihilator. Chews through ammo, but deals massive damage up-close.

CONDUCTOR

Full-auto hitscan eviscerator. Shoots bolts of electricity, like most guns do.
Far-range point-and-shoot. Deals more damage the farther away you are from your target.

NEW ENEMIES:

The SHOTGUNNER

You'll never guess what he does.

The INSECT

Strolls around the arena, barraging you with slow-moving projectiles.
Can easily fill the air with bullets if ignored, making in-air navigation harder.

The MORTAR

Launches explosive grenades. Keep an ear out for warning flares.

The JAWBREAKER

Uses its energy blades to slash through the air, creating waves of energy that turn the ground into a maze.
Weave through projectiles to hit its weak point, but be careful of its back-mounted turret.

OTHER CHANGES:

Control rebinding is now available in the options menu
The shop now lets you reroll items, once per run
Completely rework "Cyber Hook" buff - it now controls more like an actual grapple hook
The player now properly walks down slopes
Launcher grenades should no longer clip through floors
Fix CRT filter not scaling with window size
Improve aiming on controller
Add "Viewmodel FOV" slider to settings menu
Add "Gamepad Vibration Intensity" slider to settings menu
Movement should feel a bit less floaty while in mid-air now
Optimize hit detection for player's bullets; no more finicky shield collisions
Rearrange the entire in-game HUD
Only rumble controller if it's the most recent input type
Show descriptions for each weapon while in the hub area
Improve performance even more

A major content update for SGRAW has arrived! A new arena, new enemies, and new modifiers are here to spice up combat.

NEW ARENA:

THE SEWERS

After a long period in disuse, the local sewers have been refurbished and repurposed as a combat arena.

The focus of this map is to encourage combatants to use all of their movement tech. Wall-running alone isn't gonna cut it here.

NEW ENEMIES:

The TURRET

He looks friendly.
Turrets remain in a single fixed location, constantly firing bullets to maintain pressure. However, they're slow to turn; when low on resources, it's not a bad idea to approach a turret from behind to farm ammo/health.

Hopefully he won't mind if I borrow some ammo.

The SCYTHE

(Richard)

Going for a jog. Exercise is important.
Scythes tend to idly stroll throughout the arena. They'll wait until a combatant's back is turned before switching into attack mode, relentlessly pursuing their target for a devastating strike.

Shouldn't have interrupted the jog.

The CYCLONE

Cyclones are protected by their iconic blue shield. The shield can be bypassed through explosions, plasma, or the big gap in the front. However, doing so causes the Cyclone to attack, which can either be inconvenient or straight-up deadly.

Lasers do, oddly enough, tend to hurt.

NEW MODIFIERS:

Plenty of new modifiers have been added to the shop. Are you a fan of movement? Because we've got plenty of movement in this update.

Enough modifiers have been added, in fact, that the shop's capacity has been upgraded.

More items up for sale per run, but watch what you purchase - prices go up after every purchase.

OTHER CHANGES:

Fix controller rumbling when it's not in use
Stronger enemies now drop more health than regular ones
Always compile shaders on startup to mitigate framedrops
Fix viewmodel not being affected by Render Scale setting
Advertisement billboards now properly emit light
Redo CRT filter effect to maintain screen legibility
The camera now properly tilts when wallrunning
Change the crosshair for the Crossbow to better indicate which fire mode it's in
Fix framerate drops tied to constant audio file decoding
Optimize hit detection - bullets should now hit enemies from farther away
Enemies now return to their original spawn points when falling out of arenas
Fix being able to spawn inside walls when falling out of arenas
Enemy melee attacks are no longer deafeningly loud
The shotgun's alt-fire now reloads even when the gun's not equipped
Add shadow quality option to settings menu
Fix waves not properly registering as being finished
Add an option in the console to replay the tutorial
Add a bunch of easter eggs
Fix z-fighting on objects far away from the camera
Tweak the wave randomizer to give the player more chances to refill resources
Fix several bugs that are too insignificant to properly document
