I had the same issue and managed to link my account with the game! so, after you follow the tutorial on "Online Connection Issues", uninstall the game, install it again and click your friends list located at the bottom. Then, connect your steam account with it and when you open your own dating profile and click "online" both should be check-marked.

(of course, make sure your internet connection is on and stable during these steps)
