Just got the clear in campaign and one thing that really bothered me was how slow the auto fire was. In fact, I'm not even sure how most people could go for a one credit run with it enabled. I'm by no means a good button masher but I had far more success just beating the shot button like it owed me money on my own. Went from barely being able to survive up to the clock tower (with auto fire) to getting 2 1cc's back to back.

Any way we could.possibly get the trigger speed boosted? Axelay had adjustable auto fire in its menu and that worked really well...think a similar system would bode well here.
