Aaaand rinse and repeat
I really want to love the rest of the game.
Then get some water-drones. Set up defenses. The best way to have this game be as "comfy" as possible is to WORK for it. Hell, that's kinda the whole point. Forever winter is a cruel game where your whole sha-bang of goods is on the line, just always at risk of being lost. Besides, it's rewarding in that sense when you do turn the innards from an inhospitable, barely surviving dump to a genuine haven where no amount of WT's can mess with your underground dung hole civilization.
If you KNOW where to find Water, just keep going to those places and you will find MORE water. Hell the Bunker on Scorched Enclave seems to always have 2-4 Water jugs in it. And every "run" only takes a couple minutes (like less then 5 minutes if your quick).
So I don't see any reason for people to complain about this mechanic. ALSO, they recently added a base upgrade that give you Water Barrels for free per day. Its EXPENSIVE (like 600k Credits) but you can do it.
