How do I get to star systems without a hyperlane attached?
Stellaris 3.14 on Windows 11.

Do I have to research some new technology?
Is that generally for later in the game?

Thanks.

Star systems without a hyperlane can always be accessed by something else (Assuming its not something from mod), like a wormhole or a special gate (like the L-gate cluster).

And yes you need a technology for utilizing wormholes. While unlocking the L-gates is a longer research project.

Late game you get jump drives and can jump there from any system in range.

I think Ultima Vigilis is (before finishing the site) jump drive only.
If it's the system with the habinte unified worlds you need to declare war on them first and they'll open hyperlanes to the surrounding systems.
Out of interest, I don't think I've ever seen a star system without a hyper lane attached. Does this form part of one of the DLC's, or some mods?

I'm pretty sure Ultima Vigilis is vanilla

L Cluster is Distant Stars

Corrupted Avatar is Distant Stars

Habinte Unified Worlds is First contact

The Chosen is First Contact

I think that's all of them. I may be missing some.

I don't think I have any DLC's. I'm finding these star systems at the end of my explored space and they don't seem to have any hyperlane attached.

some people say they get DLC content sometime, while not having it
after researching Jump Drive technology, you can jump in those systems with your ships
science ship first, for surveying - maybe there will be some events
Forblaze made a good list. There's also the every-game system that can only be accessed by wormhole. In this picture, the wormhole is on the left (Almach). Only when opened can the system Tystra be accessed.

With Ultima Vigilis, as long as you can see it beyond the edges of the galaxy (a Sentry Array helps for that), you can jump to it. Not with this system: you can see it, but you can't get there without opening the wormhole first.
Note an amusing side-effect of how pathing distance is calculated:

If you use a science ship to perform Experimental Subspace Navigation, the game will calculate how long it takes to reach the destination based on being MIA and going through hyperlanes - which is done as a multiplier. If there are no hyperlanes to the destination, that multiplier becomes 0, resulting in the science ship appearing in the system the very next day.

Yes, going to and from any system without hyperlanes through Experimental Subspace Navigation takes only a single day. Just remember to be cloaked, as I think the only two systems without hyperlanes that are safe are Ophala (beyond the Chosen's Ithome Cluster) and Dacha (before you awaken its Pacifist not-Fallen Empire).

Thank you for confirming this. I once found out that Experimental Subspace Navigation takes one day to access Egress Terminal in L-Cluster. No cloak was needed, at least with the L-Cluster outcome of the time, prior to the DLC.
There are technologies that can blink to nearby systems without a hyper lane, yes.

It might be connected via wormhole or gateway as well.

Wow, now that is a cool and useful tip, never knew that!
