Space fauna special ability research
Anyone aware of any sort of guide on how to get the research for the different fauna's special abilities? I've been playing beast master empires with the matching civic and only ever seem to get the amoeba and voidworm one all the time. Often I'll get the cuthuloid gastric ability. Only once have I seen the choir for Tiyanki (sp), and never the one for crystals.

Someone mentioned it might be based on culling certain sizes and ranks. I've certainly mulched quite a few of the full grown ones of exceptional tier and still no research option for fissile.

Actually, you're on the right track! At least, you are with Amoeba and Voidworms! I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say you clone a lot of them? Because that's the method if memory serves right! You need the second tier of mutation tech and then you have to clone them a good amount - it may want certain sizes but I don't know that for sure since by the time I do it I'm already making an entire fleet at once.

Or at least, that's how I've gotten twice in the past

Cool, thanks!

Funny thing is, I've only cloned 40 Cuthloids and got the research. I have a fleet of 80 crystals, and no research.

The crystal research is actually broken from what I've heard, and isn't triggering at all. It's advised that you file a proper bug report at the official Paradox forums, ideally with a save file attached, so that the developers have more data to work with in solving the problem.

The other space fauna projects appear to be working fine, however.
