Tech tree
I’m pretty new to the game and played in just a few games but I’ve been having the hardest time determining efficient paths for tech. What I’ve been finding is that I go through the game I’m finding more and more paths open and I’m realizing now that it appears to decrease the chance of me seeing the best paths.

Can people recommend what are ideal paths to pursue playing as united earth? I’m not looking for a particular strategy just general purpose paths to pursue. In particular weapon and ship upgrades come to mind because as time progresses I’ve noticed that my ships become less efficient as I’m not going down an ideal path and researching stuff from all over.

There's are mods that show the tech tree paths. Here's one: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1234426616

Main tip is to research upgrades to research. That snowballs your progress.

You can also look up a tech tree here.

Is not up to date!

But you don't necessarily a tech tree!
As sbszine already said! Research upgrades to research.
It depends a lot on your own playing style. :mailedfist:
I like to research energy credits & weapon upgrates quickly.
You can be negative with all numbers!
But energy credits are the holy grail! :income:
bye

The turanar link above is your go-to. Stellaris' tech system is partially randomized, so you can't just forge a direct path to the tech you want. If you click on each tech on the turanar site's tree, you see what can "weigh" or increase the probability of the tech popping up. You usually need some tech level 2's before you get 3's, but I'm not clear how many of one level you need for the next.

You can (and should) design your ships manually to make sure they use loadout that makes sense. Even going at it with just some basic common sense without knowing anything else will already provide much better results than what the AI will throw together for you.

I believe those don't exist anymore as per the tech rework?

Six of each tier before the next is unlocked. A lot of "tier 0" are true fundamentals like civilian ships, starbases, districts and so forth; so everybody gets all of those unless specific starts say otherwise (Eager Explorers don't get corvettes, for instance).

You still get boosts to research station output, research speed, and of course the ever-underappreciated survey and colonisation speed boosts. The quicker you spread out, the more resources you find and secure to improve your research.
