With legacy games without support, Steam has detection in place with the recent client update where it will block games trying to use or run this particular exploit on your computer.

Well considering its a local execution vulnerability and not remote you would have to be compromised in the first place to use the vulnerability. Its an issue but it woudl require the attacker knows youre running the game and is targeting you specifically or you like to have incredibly poor internet habits and just download stuff from anywhere with the attacker targeting people who dont have any caution online.

also it might be possible to just run the unity patcher on the games exe as far as ive heard which means you might just have to use that on it or someone at valve or elsewhere
