Brighter Shores

Brighter Shores

98% drop in players. What keeps you all playing?
I stopped playing after 30 minutes because I knew the game was going to die out, but coming back to check on it. I was right. But what keeps you guys playing this game. Is it the feeling of being 'the best' in a game, like being 500 in cooking that makes you feel proud. Or is it the copium that the game will get better in the future and your time invested will payoff?

Honestly, it's a bit of a joke to see someone write off a game just because of a player count drop, especially if they only gave it 30 minutes. For those of us who truly think it's the best game ever, that feeling doesn't just disappear because the hype died down. We're still here because the game itself is awesome, and we have faith in the devs' vision to make it even better. It's not "copium" to believe in a game's future, since it's about seeing its real potential and sticking by it. Plus, getting good at something in a game, like hitting that 500 in cooking, is a reward all on its own!

the game is fun
Its the copium mostly but they sadly deny it
For awhile I could have said to keep up with the few friends I made on this game, but now I can't even say that. I guess the idea of hitting max off of passives alone keeps me going.
Time invested? Bro, it's a video game. This is time wasted. I play because it's simple, easy fun. It has the mechanics of a semi-active idler game, but with a much better aesthetic. It fits the niche of "slightly distracting activity to do while focused on something else." Also, yeah - while I never played RS, I am curious to see what Fen has planned for the game.

As an aside, props for posting on an actual account with history. I see way too many posts from people with private accounts, or accounts that are over a decade old but only have 1-2 years' worth of posts.

i just use it like an idle game while i do other stuff and idc if it dies ill just move on to something else. I have a question for you now: is feeling right and better than random people online your main source of self validation? That's tough man

Nah you would care. You would be wetting and crying when the game dies.

how is this an idle game when you have to click non-stop all the time, it needs 90% of your focus.
I'm here out of false hope that it'll rebound.
Im autistic and adhd and the way the game slowly doles out skills and quests keeps things new and stops me from suffering "analysis paralysis" and getting overwhelmed (which makes me frustrated and quit games) Plus it's low social and chill number-go-up that's what I love about it. I throw on hells kitchen season marathons and just grind for hours, while also playing idle games on my phone.

yeah but playing a dead MMO definitely can demotivate ppl wanting to start it as well like who would wanna put time into a game that will shut down soon? you can play whatever you like idc but don't act like it's weird others don't wanna put time into this when other MMOs with 100000s of active daily players and constant updates are out there instead.
What copium? It’s an early access game that will be around for years and years. Who cares really about the state of it now or in a few months? They’re not wiping anything so what’s the issue?
Logged into today after a couple month break and man this game is DEAD
