Discovering New Systems quest in Expedition
So this quest tells me to DISCOVER 8 NEW SYSTEMS, however wherever i go, they've been already discovered. I really want to get Normandy, but i have no idea how to get this part of quest done!

Try searching the forum, there are many discussions about it already.

use your freighter to scan the system after every jump

Short answer that worked for me - go into offline mode in steam, play game, warp eight times, go back online.
I found plenty of undiscovered systems, but I started looking at least 2000 light years away from the expedition route.

It worked for me, go offline > travel to a blackhole > after each warp was a new system

hint you dont need to do that quest,to get the Normandy.

Did you go offline, or simply turn off multiplayer?
Turning off multiplayer does nothing... you have to go offline (ie, no internet connection) to disconnect you from community data (which is how this method works)

Multiplayer was off, i believe i was offline, but not 100% sure on that one.

I managed to get it, it took an hour + and about 5000 light years away from the path to actually do it.

Glad to hear you managed anyway
However, just to make sure this is clear for anyone else who looks for info here...

If you aren't 100% sure that you were offline (that was the only prerequisite for that method), then you can't say the method didn't work... because you don't even know if you tried it in the first place....

Multiplayer being on or off has absolutely no impact on your connection to community data... (and the method relies on not connecting to community data)

To play offline, you have to either put steam on "offline mode" or disable your wifi connection during the mission.

Exit the game.
Switch Steam to offline mode:

Start the game.

just fly far away, you can use the teleport system, especially from the anomoly station (or "nexus" station as some call it) to go to the featured bases in other galaxies even.

fly into space and open galaxy travel map, go to "free travel mode" then go as far as you can in one direction NOT towards the core or any mission and jump.. do that a couple times in the same direction and you should start hitting system after system that has not been explored yet.
if you get the hyperdrive upgrades that allow travel to red, green, or whatever other stars first it's even more likely you'll discover new ones by going to those.
