Hotfix for 1.06

Hotfix for Patch 1.06 Now Live

We've pushed out a hotfix for 1.06 correcting:

  • Sprite display issues during Blackjack
  • Certain character sprites using the wrong expression
  • Tweaks to certain materials in the backgrounds of 3D environments

Failure to launch (Related to Hotfix 1.03?)
Not sure if the new Hotfix is related but now the game will no longer launch. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? It launched just fine before.

Merch?
Probably a long shot with this being a small indie game, but might as well ask anyway... I don't suppose there any plans to sell merch of the game? I'd love to have a chibi Morgan or Serra phone charm irl just like the ones in the game.

Patch 1.06 is here with a variety of fixes, corrections, and adjustments. We've also got an update on:

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for updates about specifications, availability and where you’ll be able to purchase them.

Our team’s focus remains firmly on releasing Episodes 2-5 as quickly and in as high-quality a state as possible, but if the charms go well, we’ll be able to look at producing a greater variety of merchandise for of the Devil.



Patch Notes

Optimization and Performance
  • Compressed the size (in memory) of some outlier sprites and textures.

Gameplay:
  • Fixed an issue where the Enter/Return key could be used to choose the first available choice.
  • Adjusted the description for, and the dialogue surrounding the introduction of, a key piece of evidence during the crime scene investigation in Episode 1.
  • Added a failsafe that will award the Episode 1 Highroller Exclusive Charm on Startup if the player has the “Cutthroat Industry” Achievement but the charm had previously failed to unlock properly.
  • Fixed an issue where the game may have waited for additional input in between choosing to CALL on a line of dialogue and displaying the cards you have to choose from.

Scripting:
  • Addressed a variety of grammar and spelling errors.
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong name for an item

UI and Display:
  • Fixed an issue where the cost to unlock the Rose Gold phone case color was listed as 5 instead of 20.
  • Fixed an issue where the total possible evidence collected in Episode 1 could be summed incorrectly (Display Issue Only).
  • Fixed an issue where certain elements of the UI could animate incorrectly when viewing Evidence or Profiles.
  • Fixed an issue where certain elements of the Phone could clip into UI elements unintentionally while viewing Evidence or Profiles.
  • Fixed an issue where the Dialogue textbox visibility could fail to change properly when switching between the Phone Menu, the Backlog, and normal gameplay.
  • Reduced the length of helper text on certain choice Cards to improve readability.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Court is in session” reminder text preventing players from loading a save while in the courtroom could be seen on a Highroller save while playing on a non-highroller save under certain circumstances.

Environments:
  • Adjusted the brightness of the Court Lobby at different times of day.
  • Fixed an issue where certain 3D objects in the courtroom were clipping unintentionally.
  • Fixed an issue where certain animated elements in the courtroom were looping improperly.

Improvements and Quality of Life features we're looking into for future patches:
  • Additional keyboard shortcuts for navigating to Evidence, Profiles, Settings, etc.
  • More robust support for Steam Deck and other controller setups.
  • Accessibility features that adjust the font(s) used in-game.

Played the demo, didn't unlock anything in the main game
I've beaten the demo multiple times (because y'all made something amazing), but I didn't get a message after starting the game (as per your bluesky), no charm and no unlocked bonuses.

game taking too many resources?
i really want to play the game but for whatever reason it is incredibly intensive on memory for some reason? it causes my fans to spin up and a lot of the settings dont stick when changed? is there some way to fix this?

Eye Strain
I played through Chapter 0, loved it, and want to see where the story goes unfortunately the game causes really bad eye strain. The colored text in particular is difficult to read due to the lower contrast. Would you consider adding an option for regular dark serif text on a light background?...

really fun and wonderful. super engaging mechanics that fit the world perfectly, the blackjack screen + sfx when you hit 21 was my favorite part... really impressively intricate worldbuilding that made everything feel lived in but with a clear authorial vision behind it, i never felt like i was drowning in boring/overly-indulgent lore. and to top it all off! hilarious and unique cast of characters, i adored them all. really looking forward to ep 2.

A game with complex, layered writing. It tickles the part of my brain that got hooked on Danganronpa while having infinitely more to say than DR and being way less offensive. I love the characters, who are vibrant and well-defined and I'm interested to learn more about them and the world they inhabit. I'll be excited to play the next episode when it comes out

ALSO: Serra is the cutest and most endearing android girl and I want the world for her <3
