FSO installer is SUPER outdated, use Knossos instead: https://pxo.nottheeye.com/support/how-to/knossos

FSOinstaller is safe to to run, and some people still prefer using it. But Knossos is much easier to use and manage, especially if you are new to FreeSpace.

Note that some AV programs may flag it as suspicious due to it not being a very common file. If you get it from the link here, it is safe to run.
