A tad confused about the rain [SPOILERS]
In Lilies iirc we learn that it is the result of overwhelming amount of blight Fretia had to take on or at least something along those lines. I don't recall any speculation on the source of it in Magnolia. So, then, what is it?

As I understand the situation, there are two rains of death. The first is global, which covered all the territories of the Ancients occupied by the conquerors. To protect against the Rain of Death, the Emperium Parasol was invented, covering the territory in the form of a dome. The second is rain caused from the bowels of the earth. Fumes of Blight rose up, condensed on the Upper Stratums and turned into raindrops. This is the rain that we are seeing in some areas of the Middle Stratum, and this rain is already inside the dome.

honestly my real question is how they managed to create the empyrean parasol so quickly if the rain of death was already upon them with no warning.

The hypothesis is very floating, but I will assume that there was a period when Land of Fumes was under threat of infection, and the government's organization is already playing a role here to create a dome for protection in a short time... Those who managed to become Blighted people, in an attempt to purify them, came up with a method to use their immortal bodies as cores, which later began to create homunculi...

This would explain the theory of where the Blighted people came from, and later the homunculi. Because if the dome had been covered on time, there would have been no more threats of infection (excluding events before the appearance of Blighted Fumes)

Well, one more thing, perhaps more logical, if Land of End was the epicenter of the beginning of the Blight curse, then the rain spread from there. And given that the lands are probably far from each other, there was a chance to prepare to cover the dome, but then the question arises where the homunculi came from...

The only thing that is clear is that the Parasol really turned out to be useful, and unlike Land of End, Land of Fumes does have life and living people, despite the fact that many have to survive and fight for their lives...
