An honestly really great re-release of Samurai Warriors 4. Great Storylines, characters, gameplay and weapon diversity.

Thoroughly enjoying each of the campaigns and the narration method of explaining the historical events.

The only negative item i have to share is that this is just the base game, it doesn't include anything from the follow-up 4-II.

As a result it's missing characters like Naomasa Li and their storyline.

A musou game that is reminiscent of the old. Tight instanced battlefields, with tons of enemies to mow down. The controls feel pretty good and the move sets are flashy and good looking. The game does feel and look a bit dated though. I'm not familiar with this series story wise, so my bias is that I do prefer DW over this series. But I plan on trying others in the series too.

Only gripe is the forced constant movement around the whole map and back tracking to intercept enemy generals. It works well to keep the player engaged, just annoying to deal with.

You also get a companion AI general that acts on their own, and is probably one of the best iterations of a companion in a musou game. They can handle themselves and progress towards objectives naturally. You can also freely swap back and forth to preform combos as well as hit objectives that the AI ran to. Which brings me to the objectives in general. I really enjoy how this games AI handles objectives and does not totally rely on the player to complete them. May take longer, but they manage.
