Hope you all had a nice break and Happy New Year!

Almost everyone is back in the office and getting stuck in to our plans for 2025.

Speaking of... we've just released a "minor" update to kick off the new year with lots of polish and tweaks!

We've been receiving a lot of feedback about balancing since The Second Act update, mosty that it's a bit too hard, and thank you very much for this feedback!
We are working on a balancing rework which will be split into 3 phases, and the first one is coming with this update:

• Medallion bag has been removed. You now obtain medallions only from looters (altars, chests etc). This should give you more choice about which medallions you're getting and reduce the 'management' of medallions you don't want.
  
• You can now recycle medallions for gold if you have the skill.
  
• Some balancing on the Gold costs and Medallions effects.
  
• Balancing tweaks on Heavy Weapon special attacks damage
  
• We've also added an "over shield" to the heavy weapons, preventing interruption when being hit while charging the special attack.

Some of these may seem minor, but they will have a decent effect on balancing straight away and set the stage nicely for the development work on the other phases which are coming later this year.


We didn't just make changes to balancing, we've also added and tweaked some things to generally improve the game:

• New 3D animations during dialogues.
  
• Some level structure improvement in Garden and Academy, plus some tweaks in the Huns Camp, to improve variety and simplify navigation (like adding more Well of Dreams in Academy). Let us know how these levels feel now!
  
• Rework of interact visibility, adding a little hint on where to interact with things and clarifying what you're interacting with.
  
• Added a World Map into the in-game menu, to help you better understand the World Structure and follow where you were, where you are, and what's next.
  
• Rework of the loading transitions. This is mostly aesthetic - we know they can be a bit long, we are aware of it and will be working on this in the coming months, don't worry.
  
• Our sound designer also worked hard to improve the overall ambiance, adding new SFX and tracks in the biomes to give them more life.

We've also fixed some bugs, here is a shortlist of the major fixes:

• The challenge room in the Gold Mines won't appear behind rocks anymore.
  
• Skystalkers now have a proper outline when shielded.
  
• Awakening of the Reinforced now works on bosses.
  
• You shouldn't have duplicated medallions anymore.
  
• Rescue music is now bound to the music slider option.
  
• Fixed Z-Door looping animation when entering.
  
• Berude's fight can't be skipped with Stealth Spirit anymore (Don't be rude to Berude guys, she deserves a fair fight too).

Finally, here are some known issues, we're working on them!

• Still investigating some collision disappearing for mobs and player sometimes.
  
• Props can appear before the Kids in the shop.
  
• Achievement for meeting or freeing Shahin might not trigger.
  
• Baatar's arena door doesn't appear (but the collision is still there)

We should™ be back with a bigger update at the end of the month so keep an eye out for that!

Hello everyone,


Seems like we were a tad premature with our post last week.

We said that Ubisoft Connect would be an optional-only feature at 1.0, but things have evolved.


There will in fact be no Ubisoft Connect at all for the game on Steam.


Now we are aware that some people might have wanted Ubisoft Connect in order to do cross-saves with consoles. If this is requested by a lot of players at 1.0, then there are other ways we could address cross-saves and we can explore that if/when it comes :)


No price increase in January

We'd also previously mentioned a price increase after the Winter Sale but again our plans have slightly changed.
We won’t be raising the price in January, but we will still raise the price at some point in the future, considering all the content that has been added and will be added, but right now isn't the right moment. It's a Christmas miracle.

Also, we will have our biggest ever discount of 25% for the Steam Winter Sale. Just sayin.


Roadmap

Essentially we'll be polishing the bejeezus out of all the features we added this year while feeding in some new content, addressing some issues and getting the final biomes/boss ready.


We can't wait for all that but right now we're going to go eat, drink, sleep and get merry for a week or two to recover from this crazy year.

Hope you've all been enjoying the Second Act update and everything that came with it!

Now we've got that monster of an update out into the world, we can talk a bit about the future and what's in store for The Rogue Prince of Persia in 2025.

Behold, the new roadmap!

Most of that is pretty self-explanatory, but we want to expand a bit on some points which might be misunderstood...


Medallion management

Before you panic, we're not going to change the Medallion system again - just how you find, improve and setup your Medallions.

Right now the system of filling your Medallion bag through kills, then opening it, then picking up the Medallions, then only being able to adjust them at altars or with Astara is, well... just too complicated, time-consuming and frankly it can kill the flow of a run.

So, we've got some big improvements coming to this whole system to make it more fluid, streamlined and fun!


Improve control input & response

We've seen some reviews and posts about the game controls feeling slow, that they have input lag, problems with getting locked in to animations etc...

After swearing a blood oath to hunt these people and their entire families down, we realised that we actually agree that this can be improved, so we're going to address it! We're not going to go into detail about exactly how, as there's a lot of background tech & number stuff involved, but it's coming soon!

Now, we also get lots of positive comments about the movement and controls, so if that's you don't worry, we're not going to make crazy radical changes either.


Make biome layouts more random

Some biomes have an issue where they feel the same in every run, even though they're procedurally generated.

This shouldn't be the case, so around half of the biomes are currently being worked on to add more variety to their layout and 'rooms', without sacrificing the feel of the biome.


Improve loading transitions

The first round of improvements will be purely visual - making the entrances/exits of biomes and the transition screen itself more good-looking.

Then later on in the year we'll be trying to reduce the loading time. To put it simply, the loading screen is there to entertain your eyes while the game generates the level design of the next biome.

Sometimes this level generation fails and has to start again - we have several ways to improve this process, but we have a small team, the solutions take a long time to test, and we have many other things to do, so this has to come later on in the year. But it IS coming!


Improve traversal & combat 'feeling'

This is kind of a follow-up to the 'control input & response' point. While we think we've earned the right to say that the gameplay is satisfying, we think there's a good 20% of extra satisfaction to be found.

Whether it's making the animations more fluid, adding more audio feedback or adjusting the visual effects, next year we'll be searching for more of that sweet sweet "gamefeel" nectar.


Environmental interactions and breakable environmental items

Our artists' work on the "glow-up" for the Second Act update was incredible, but the environments can still lack a bit of life.

So we're going to be adding things in the background that you can interact with, as well as random things happening in the background.

Maybe a flock of birds will fly off as you get close, maybe a part of a tower will collapse - events that make the world much more lived in.

You'll probably also be able to break some random pots, because can a video game really exist without that?


Summary

This year we've put all the structures in place to get the game in a good position for 1.0, now we just need to polish the absolute hell out of these features, while taking the community's feedback into account.

We'll add some extra spice along the way, then the final story act, biomes and boss and we'll be good to go!!


Denuvo + Ubisoft Connect on Steam - update

We've noticed people asking about Denuvo (the anti-piracy software) and whether it will be in the game at 1.0.

Well, we can tell you that Denuvo will NOT be in the game on Steam.

On the same note, Ubisoft Connect will be available as an optional-only activable feature at 1.0 on Steam.

Énorme mise à jour graphique

Commençons par ça : c'est le changement le plus percutant que nous ayons apporté.

L'« art » est subjectif, et nous pourrions écrire un essai sur le raisonnement et les débats que nous avons eus à propos de cette modification du style. Pour faire court, nous n'avons pas obtenu la valeur de production et les notes de « jeu d'action » espérées.

Nous pensons que cela a empêché de nombreuses personnes d'essayer le jeu. Nous souhaitons que le jeu attire des joueurs, donc nous l'avons modifié pour qu'il corresponde mieux à l'histoire, au contexte, et à la série Prince of Persia.

Nous sommes très heureux du résultat et nous espérons que vous aussi ! Et qui sait ? Peut-être que les amateurs de violet apprécieront une future apparence...

Maintenant, passons au gameplay !

2 nouveaux biomes

Mines Dorées

Présentées comme le premier nouveau biome (alternative au village de Zagros et au camp des Huns), ces mines aussi magnifiques que dangereuses donneront du fil à retordre au Prince.

Quartier des artisans

Ce biome alternatif aux Jardins Inondés vous fera courir et sauter sur les toits du Quartier des Artisans.

5 nouveaux ennemis

Les nouveaux biomes ont besoin de nouveaux ennemis, et nous avons ajouté quelques ennemis retors.

Certains attaquent sous vos pieds, d'autres explosent et d'autres encore se téléportent. L'objectif est d'apporter de la variété aux ennemis !

2 nouveaux boss

Je ne veux rien dévoiler de plus que ce qui est présenté dans la bande-annonce, alors je vous laisserai découvrir ces puissants généraux Huns par vous-même...
Si vous voulez faire vos preuves en les affrontant, alors terminez les deux nouveaux biomes ;)

Nouveau chapitre narratif et améliorations narratives

Nous avons ajouté un deuxième acte à découvrir, mais le premier a également subi des modifications, et les dialogues ont été réécrits.

Rééquilibrage de la difficulté

Depuis un certain temps, nous avons l'impression que la progression de la difficulté au cours d'une partie est assez minime.

La difficulté n'augmentait pas vraiment au fur et à mesure de la progression, surtout si vous obteniez un bon équipement tôt dans la partie. Puisqu'une partie peut prendre entre 30 et 40 minutes, nous avions peur que le jeu devienne ennuyeux, et ce n'est pas acceptable !

La difficulté sera désormais augmentée après avoir vaincu un boss, pour toujours vous tenir en haleine.

Langues supplémentaires

C'est très simple : nous avons ajouté la localisation du jeu en allemand, coréen, espagnol, japonais, portugais et russe ! The Rogue Prince devient M. Monde.

Le futur

C'est tout pour cette mise à jour, mais nous voulions également vous parler un peu du futur du jeu.
Nous avons ajouté beaucoup de fonctionnalités en très peu de temps. Nous devons maintenant revenir dessus et les perfectionner, individuellement et dans leur ensemble. On parle de toi, sac à médaillons...

Dans le futur proche, nous peaufinerons entièrement une grande partie du contenu existant, tout en y ajoutant un peu de piment.

Nous devons également terminer l'histoire, et donc ajouter un boss final et des biomes, alors pas de panique, nous ne perdons pas notre temps sur les détails, nous ajouterons également du contenu.

Augmentation du prix après les Soldes d'hiver

Enfin, afin de tenir compte du nouveau niveau de contenu du jeu, le prix sera légèrement augmenté en janvier. Nous vous donnerons plus d'informations en décembre, notamment la date exacte et le montant de l'augmentation.

Pfiou, ça fait beaucoup... Merci à toutes celles et ceux qui ont joué et partagé leurs retours depuis la sortie, et un grand merci à tous les bêta-testeurs techniques pour votre aide avec cette gigantesque mise à jour !

Avant d'entrer dans le vif du sujet, si vous lisez ceci dans votre langue, cela veut dire que nous l'ajoutons au jeu dans une semaine !

Maintenant, passons au clou du spectacle, une petite bande-annonce d'aperçu de ce qui vous attend dans la mise à jour majeure de la semaine prochaine : Le deuxième chapitre ! Nous sommes sûrs que vous allez apprécier...

L'équipe a travaillé dur ces derniers mois pour préparer le jeu pour ce gros ajout de contenu, qui vous apportera :

Cette mise à jour marque le point de doublement du contenu du jeu depuis sa sortie. Tous les éléments du roguelite sont présents : boucle de jeu, métaprogression, configurations, modificateurs de difficulté, et plus. Et on ne s'arrête pas là, le développement continue en 2025 !


Changement de direction artistique

Le changement le plus flagrant de cette mise à jour est la direction artistique, qui a été désaturée, profite de détails supplémentaires et a été globalement "améliorée". Vous remarquerez également que le Prince n'est plus violet. Nous avons fait le choix de changer, car cette couleur ne correspondait plus à la nouvelle direction graphique.

La semaine prochaine, nous expliquerons en détail ce qui a motivé ces changements, mais nous trouvons que cette nouvelle direction artistique convient mieux au genre du jeu et à la série Prince of Persia dans son ensemble.


Date de sortie et promotion

C'est donc le bon moment pour revenir ou découvrir le jeu, alors rendez-vous le 21 novembre pour découvrir ce sur quoi nous avons travaillé !

Le jeu sera également en promotion pour fêter la mise à jour, alors si vous connaissez quelqu'un qui pourrait être intéressé, prévenez cette personne pour nous 😉

Hello everyone!

It’s XYZ and Berenger again, because your and our beloved Matt had to be out of the office for the release of this update. But don’t worry, we’re saving his writing skills for the Mother of All Update in November. And for this month, the update of - has arrived as promised! Ok, maybe a little later than promised ^^’

But hey, before we get into the main course, let’s enjoy the starter first:

You now have the possibility to bump into a little girl who is being hunted by the Huns’ corruption. The Prince never leaves one of his people in danger, so you will have to use your epic platforming and parkour skills to rescue her, just like in the reveal trailer! In return, generous rewards are waiting for you, hence the title of the update.

Since the motto for this update was to bring more “Variety”, you can consider this as a kind of side quest which aims to bring a new dynamic to the gameplay, and, for those who keep asking for more challenging rooms in the level, this will definitely satisfy your desires!

Note: rescue missions will appear in a random biome and shall only appear once per run. If you want to skip this mission, you can just stand there for a few seconds until the corruption runs off the screen.

The medallion system before:

Medallions should allow you to create your ‘build’ – a key part of pretty much every roguelite. The first version of this system was too complicated/obscure, so people were spending ages on the medallion selection menu (ergo not spending time enjoying the gameplay), didn’t see where to create synergies, and many medallions were too niche, so their triggers/synergies were rarely seen even if you knew what you’re doing.

This had two effects – people didn’t realize that there’s this whole other layer to the game so they thought the game is too simple, which is rarely a good thing, and they also didn’t know how to reach higher levels of damage that you can get from good builds and so they got stuck at lower difficulties.

The medallion system now:

We reworked the whole medallion system to solve all the problems we noticed above. It should be more intuitive, you should have more freedom when you create a build, and so there’s more fun and replayability in the game. If you play a few runs and find that it doesn’t achieve these things, then please do leave us your feedback as we want it to be perfect!

The boosting effect based on adjacent medallion placement is removed, no more strict limitations.

Gathering & Equipment

• You can now potentially equip 12 medallions (YES, 12) in a run, but with only 3 medallion slots unlocked at the beginning with the other 9 able to be unlocked during the run.
  
• You will randomly gain medallions by killing enemies, while chests and altars still serve as the main source to obtain more.
  
• The medallions you earned by killing will be automatically stored in your bag (congrats, you have a new bag as an update gift!). You can open the bag to see what medallions you’ve got and which ones you want to equip.

Upgrading Inventory & Medallions

• This upgrading system is all about trade-off – sacrificing 1 medallion to unlock 1 new medallion slot or to upgrade 1 medallion you’ve already got.
  
• Astara will work full time on upgrading medallions, which means no more weapon upgrade at their shop.
  
• Moksha Altar is reworked to give you new medallion slots (upgrade your inventory).

With this new system, we are also bringing you:
Meanwhile, all the legacy medallions have been removed, so let’s mourn them for 5 seconds...

You’ll see now there are way more badass builds, with many satisfying synergies between weapons and medallions. We hope that after finishing a run, you’ll start another run to chase that sweet OP build and feel the POWER.

I will just put some screenshots here to show how fun it can be with the synergy effect without spoiling the build’s formula - we prefer to let you explore and try different stuff yourself!
However, the system is not flawless for the moment. The effect of each medallion and the build you can create will certainly be a bit too OP sometimes. Our dev team is doing more balancing work which will be implemented soon. So enjoy the feeling of being an absolute god while you still can…

Aside from the gameplay, we’ve also started to get stuck into the narration.

Upon release, we received quite a lot of ‘mid’ reviews regarding the narration and dialogue. Part of the reason is that we only released the beginning of the story at first, but we can admit that a lot of elements that would flesh out the storytelling were just missing.

Our talented designers are still working on the polish of the existing narration, as well as the second Act of the story, which is coming in November, but we still prepared something in this update for you to get familiar with this world in advance.

So here we are, the dessert of this update:

This is a book compiling all the stories & knowledge of the mobs and the bosses in this world, from which you will get to know the origin of corruption, the complex relationships between bosses & more…

We don’t want to spoil it too much more, but if you are curious about the events of the invasion and what might happen in the future, just swing by Hun’s Camp, where a new NPC ‘Nyamtur’ will be waiting for you - he’ll tell you how to get this book.
This book will not give you such knowledge for free however, and you will have to complete numerous challenges to unlock what you seek.

Above are all the major changes, here are also some small tweaks:

• Inventory rework to reflect the changes to medallions.
  
• Medallions are now unlocked in packs instead of individually.
  
• Moksha Altar is now a default ability, and the perk was removed from the skill tree.
  
• Weapons can be upgraded at Blood Altars, at the cost of max HP.
  
• Removed weapons from chests, they will only reward medallions now.
  
• Improved boss rewards. There's now a special altar available after defeating a boss, with extra rewards.
  
• Shop price is increased.
  
• Audio polish (a lot, a lot, a lot...)

Biomes:

• Fixed a level generation issue in Huns Camp.
  
• Fixed an issue with some traps hitboxes that caused larger mobs to not receive damage.
  
• Fixed pathfinding issues in some rooms of Huns camp.
  
• Fixed an issue that caused challenge rooms to spawn too often.

Visuals:

• Fixed a visual issue with the foreground in Oasis when using the kick.

Mobs:

• Added a protection when elevators are active to prevent mobs from hitting the Prince.
  
• Fixed archers not being able to target the player through some interactable items.
  
• Fixed mobs not dying from water slide damage when landing on the edges.

Audio:

• Fixed water SFX lingering after walking in a puddle.
  
• Fixed Awakening Altar music bypassing music volume settings.

Menu/UI:

• Fixed an issue with the main menu that didn't prevent from resuming and starting a new run/save at the same time.
  
• Fixed weapon rack upgrade being purchasable from Paachi.
  
• Fixed a translation issue with Censer's tooltip in English.

Miscellaneous:

• Fixed an issue with rumble timing upon respawning in Oasis.
  
• Fixed Soul Brazier causing a crash when too many glimmers are spawned.
