Mechanical Lab – 1.0 Release Notes

The long-awaited Mechanical Lab 1.0 update is here! This release brings new content, gameplay improvements, and fixes to enhance your experience.

New Features

-Added a new A6 robot/dog companion, which can be spawned in the Robot Market location.
-Introduced two new expedition types: Horde and Climbing, featuring a new enemy type.
-Expanded customization with new parts (Acid Launcher & Acid Ammo, Character Decorator Part, Energy Battery, Shields)
-Added gamepad (Xbox controller) support.
-Implemented a short text intro to introduce players to the game world.
-Added a new separate camera mode for vehicles.
-Introduced the ability to teleport vehicles, even during expeditions.
-Added a new town background.

Improvements & Optimizations

-Enhanced background post-processing for better visuals.
-Improved game lighting.
-Updated tutorial vehicle thumbnails for clearer guidance.
-Increased crossbow bolt speed.
-Improved text objective visibility.
-Enhanced tutorial hints.
-Improved game radar visibility to make tracking objects easier.
-Added new radar icons for all in-game objects.
-Optimized memory usage for better performance.
-Refined robot attacking behavior.
-Updated all part thumbnails in the editor for better recognition.
-Improved A17 track physics for more realistic movement.
-Increased enemy shooting and vision range.
-Increased collectible spawn frequency.
-Balanced enemy robots' maximum health and weak points for better combat dynamics.
-Enhanced R24 texture quality.
-Reworked the third transport mission trolley.

Bug Fixes

-Fixed a bug where destroyed trunks remained functional.
-Fixed a bug with the control station screen staying active after vehicle destruction.
-Fixed an issue where mines did not trigger properly.
-Fixed a bug where vehicle long jumps register when teleporting.
-Fixed the Destroyer achievement not tracking correctly.
-Fixed an issue where certain parts could not be destroyed.
-Fixed A17's magnet arm quivering unexpectedly.
-Fixed missing localizations for various parts.
-Fixed a lighting issue causing incorrect color and intensity for lamp parts.
-Fixed a bug where transport cargo disappeared.
-Fixed bullet reflection angle calculation errors.
-Fixed an issue where some vehicles teleported to incorrect positions.
-Fixed a bug that caused fire effects to log warnings.
-Fixed a bug where A18 parts detached incorrectly upon damage.

Mechanical Lab 1.0 launching on June 3, 2025!

The wait is almost over! Mechanical Lab is officially reaching its 1.0 version on June 3, 2025, bringing a wave of new features to enhance your robotic adventures.

Here are just some of the biggest changes coming in the update:
- Meet A6, your new robot-dog companion, available in the Robot Market
- New expedition types: Brace yourself for Horde and Climbing missions
- Gamepad support: Seamlessly play with your Xbox controller
- Expanded customization: parts including Acid Launcher, Acid Ammo, Shields, Energy Battery, and more

Mechanical Lab Devlog – A6 Robot-Dog Update

Hello, fellow engineers! Time for another Mechanical Lab devlog, and this one is particularly exciting. I've been working on an update that introduces a brand-new companion to the game—a highly advanced robot-dog named A6.

Meet A6 – Your Trusty Mechanical Sidekick

A6 is designed to be more than just a loyal companion; he's an integral part of the player's journey through the game world. With precision engineering, this robotic canine will assist players in multiple ways:

Exploration – A6 can now accompany players on their travels, trotting alongside them as they navigate the landscapes of town.

Resource Gathering – No more manual scavenging! A6 will intelligently collect materials and deliver them straight to the player's vehicle, making survival and crafting more efficient.

Future Enhancements – This is just the beginning. In upcoming updates, A6 may evolve into a true guardian, capable of protecting the player from threats in the wild.

Development Progress

I've been refining A6’s AI behavior, ensuring he feels like a true companion rather than just another tool. His movement, responsiveness, and interaction mechanics are shaping up nicely. Right now, I’m ironing out:

Pathfinding & Navigation – A6 needs to keep up with the player and traverse obstacles dynamically.

Resource Prioritization – Teaching him how to identify valuable resources and efficiently deliver them.

Animations & Sounds – Fine-tuning his movements so they feel organic, and adding satisfying mechanical whirrs.
