Amazing, isn't it? Most games after nine years are either long gone and forgotten about or, if they were great and fondly remembered, spoken of with the sort of reverence usually reserved for sunken ships or ancient civilizations. Even more amazing is the fact that ATS hasn't even reached its full potential yet and will only get better in the coming years.

Again, amazing! Happy b-day, ATS.

The game American Truck Simulator, was released on February 2, 2016, and I thought it was like twenty years ago.... ;)

Hmmm... of course ATS is more than 9 years old!!!
I bought the first version of the game on CD (the young ones probably don't know what it is!), in that version, the whole USA was on one map, and on top of that, there was a piece of Canada and a piece of Mexico!
I have lived in the same apartment for 22 years - and I bought a good laptop right after moving in.
The game is about 20 years old!

That is not American Truck Simulator, but the developers original series of trucking games, 18 Wheels of Steel. Built up differently and following a much different development pattern with smaller maps and no real trucks. I played 18WoS American Long Haul as one of the first computer games I played.
Congrats SCS!

It's a rare thing for a software company to catch the best parts of a rw experience and translate them into a very reasonable, enjoyable, accessible, and fun to play product. To do just that for almost an entire decade and still be going strong . . . is truly amazing.

ATS has become a longtime friend to many dedicated players. As a gamer myself, it makes me happy to see that loyalty, dedication, and support rewarded; by a company who is committed to the successful formula they continue to develop, while continuing to bring more of what they know their dedicated supporters have come to know and expect.

Well Done :cozyhoi4eagle:

Hmmm..., yes I played this game - 18 Wheels of Steel.
Do you remember what the first release of the ATS game looked like? What was in it? Was it just one of the states or more?
By the way, the Developers could make a “calendar” of the game for us ;).
Woohoo!
Here's hoping that they add the most wonderful detail of Atlanta when they get to Georgia. The fact that for four hours of every day, you are going nowhere if you choose to go down I-85. :lilacstare: Our rush hour is legendary.

I'm hyped for each new states upcoming, but I'm mostly excited for the new Volvo VNL.
Apart from new gameplay features and such, I can get everything I'd like by using mods. Everything but that truck. I know some modder did it, but not with the proper interior and without the interior shadows feature, and it's stupid, especially if you charge for it...
"No dude, I don't make my own models, I buy them from third party websites and adapt them to the game. I didn't find a 3D model of that truck with its own interior"
Well then don't realize it if it's not accurate lol And surely don't ask for money for it...

Anyway, looking at the map, I see that we're getting closer to the east coast, as we can expect Michigan already. I wish it could have took them less time, so they wouldn't need to rework older map parts but well, that's how it is.

ATS originally released with only California and Nevada, Arizona came shortly after as a free DLC.

Thank you, I had forgotten what the beginning of the ATS looked like. ;)
