How many states left?
I have to say this but I'm 42 this year and I'm concerned I wont live long enough to see all 50 states completed! I know perfection takes time, but oh boy this is a lengthy process. At least the Maine DLC will be bought with my state pension.

Thanks for reading.

The further we move east the smaller the states get. You can be assured that eventually ATS will get state bundles. This is similar to ETS2 with multiple countries in one DLC.

SCS have stated that they would like to move northward into Canada, and down into Mexico.

American Truck Simulator Map DLC Clarifications [blog.scssoft.com]

In this blog it states the following:

"It would be great to get the chance to reach the East Coast, it would be fabulous to be able to push north towards at least 60 degs latitude and south towards the Equatorial. But ultimately, it is up to you, our fans, if this happen - you will vote with your wallets. We expect to get the right guidance from you on future growth of our team to handle the new opportunities and challenges."

There are already instances of British Columbia in the game files.

As has been discussed COUNTLESS times, it will likely not take that long to finish the game. The game started on the west coast, where almost all the largest states are, which therefore take more time. They also re-scaled the map (started over basically) a year or so after release, so all map progress is from then, not release. If you consider landmass, they are nearly halfway done. They are also increasing pace and hiring more mappers. If it took ~8 years to get where we are now, I dont see why another ~8 years wouldnt see entire US complete. I certainly hope you would live to see 50 years old.

Even thought the states are smaller I hear they may consider changing the scales to make the smaller states bigger like using 10:1 instead of the current 21:1 scale. I dunno how true this is.

16 year old game? Its going to look very dated by then, they'll have to consider a new game engine.

Did you hear that from SCS? No? So disregard it.

No, they don't. It is their own engine and they can update and upgrade it. Did that multiple times already.
The age of an engine says nothing about its capabilities.

This is my newest figure:

Phase 2026:
1. Illinois (W)
2. South Dakota (N)
3. Mississippi (S)

Phase 2027:
4. Indiana (W)
5. North Dakota (N)
6. Alabama (S)

Phase 2028:
7. Wisconsin (W)
8. Minnesota (N)
9. Florida (S)

Phase 2029:
10. Ohio (W)
11. Michigan (N)
12. Georgia (S)

After those, there would be combination of Kentucky & Tennessee, combination of two Carolina, combination of two Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania & the small ones. Takes few years.

EDIT: I counted this with 3 map teams: W & N & S. Possibly fourth team would take B.C.

I will disagree with you slightly on this. It will likely not take that long to finish the 48 States, but the game expansion may likely continue through Canada, Alaska, and Mexico.

Unless you plan on dying before 50, you should see all the American States.

IMO the question at hand is "Much Ado About Nothing". Enjoy playing the game and forget about the future dlc release dates.

No amount of stressing over it is going to change anything, and no amount of speculation on these boards about it, is going to change anything either.

This game is built like the Mars Curiousity Rover (Expected Length of Operations on Mars - 2 earth years. Right now it's been operational for almost 12.5 earth years and it's still working as intended.)

Just have fun with ATS in the meantime and be happy if it gets there, that's what I'm going with anyway. FWIW, I'm well over 50 and not concerned at all. Give it a shot, just might work for you too.

"At least the Maine DLC will be bought with my state pension."

I wouldn't count my chickens before they're hatched . . . because, you know, consequences.

We only have 16 states which does not sound like much but it does cover more then half of the continental US.

Fair enough, that is true. I guess "the game" is just in reference to the US which was being asked about specifically. I did forget to mention that we may never see Hawaii and Alaska will likely have to come after parts of Canada.
