goated game and concept

Feels like an unfinished game parading as fully released. This is an okay early access game but it's an awful fully release game. Seems like it’s on the fifth and final stage of its content/balancing roadmap and I can’t see the game getting better.

There are some very basic things that are missing from the game along with some questionable design decisions.
One incredibly basic issue that seems obvious right at the start is the terrible balancing. Income based items are a trap. Gold in general seems like a major trap. Income based items can rarely generate enough revenue to pay for themselves, even if you get it right at the start. Very few of the items seem to have a large impact on your run. Some companion abilities seem to be stronger than hero abilities…? The gold generation you can do once per stage (where you sacrifice 6 dice with a unique value for each between 1-6) does not net enough benefits (from the lackluster items and damage you take) and makes runs incredibly boring. Another consequence of the lackluster items is that the runs don’t feel significantly different from another nor can you create as good synergies as other card-based roguelites. The ONLY build decisions you can make within a run is your choice of 1 (most-likely lackluster) companion + potentially 5 (also most-likely lackluster) items.
On the QOL things, very little information is given on cards that say “unfold as ‘enemy’”. This is also true for “silence” which is confusingly actually “sleep” and not “silence”. The controller support is awful. And I can’t even turn off the controller button prompts on the Steam Deck, even if I choose “Mouse + Keyboard” within the in-game option while “Mouse + Keyboard” is enabled in Steam.

I personally just gave up when I was given a boss where it was literally impossible to win with my build. It was the boss where if you have very little or no healing and you have less than 29 health (which is more than your starting health), then you instantly lose. This is because the boss has to be hit by 3 dice with value of 4 and each time you hit him with one die, he hits you for 15 health. It would be even more of a kicker if you kill him but he still retaliates and you actually needed 44 health to win the fight.

Ah heck...I love dice, cards and roguelikes...I'm not gonna stop playing this anytime soon.
