Stuck on ""authenticating you via steam"

As title says, I get stuck on the launcher screen with the message ""authenticating you via steam"... I have cleared cache, verified integrity of game files, but nothing fixed the problem...

Yup, getting same issue. Restarted computer, cleared cache, restart modem, uninstall and reinstall... and nothing.

There's nothing wrong with the game I'm currently online and so are many others. This sounds like a steam hiccup.

I get an error:

Unable to initialize API. Make sure steam client is running.

The error only shows for a second before the screen appears where you login.

But other games through steam are working perfectly fine, so I really don't know who is to blame :P I just hope this can be fixed soon....
