This is a 2024 Season 4 Patch Release that contains some impactful updates and needed fixes for issues.

iRACING:--------------------------------------------------------------
Account Management
iRacing now supports 2-factor authentication (2FA) using Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP).
This can be configured in the Security section of Account Management (https://oauth.iracing.com/accountmanagement/security/).

iRacing Companion App
Only versions of the iRacing Companion App that support 2FA will be functional after today’s release (v1.9.3 or newer). If you get an authentication error in the Companion App, be sure to go to your app store and download the latest and greatest version of the iRacing Companion App to continue using it (v1.9.6).

SIMULATION:--------------------------------------------------------------
Physics
For a variety of vehicle classes, fixed an issue where having a small amount of vehicle damage and encountering a minor ground snag could trigger an aerodynamics calculation cascade resulting in an unauthorized moon launch. The vehicles fixed with this aerodynamic update include:
- - All GT4 Class Cars
- - All TCR Class Cars
- - FIA F4
- - Toyota GR86

Race Control
Fixed an issue where a Race would fail to start if the entire field was starting from the pits.
- - This was just a communication issue between iRacing track officials, Barney, Legendary Flagman, and Fred, Flawless Wheelman.

Heat Racing
Fixed an issue that could crash RaceServers if no Heat Sessions were actually setup during a Heat Racing Event.

Graphics
The texture loading algorithm has been updated for improved processing.
Fixed a memory leak in the particle effects system.

CARS:--------------------------------------------------------------
Dallara IR18
Fixed a competition issue where the amount of P2P available for use during an event could be reset if the driver’s internet connection was unstable.

Ford Mustang GT3
For the damage model, wheel mounts have been slightly strengthened.

Mini Stock
For the damage model, the allowable rear suspension hyperextension distance has been reduced.

Super Formula SF23
Fixed a competition issue where the amount of P2P available for use during an event could be reset if the driver’s internet connection was unstable.

TRACKS:--------------------------------------------------------------
Cadwell Park Circuit
The off-track surface properties at the exit of the final two corners have been updated to behave more like grass than pavement.
Fixed an issue where some pit entry tire barriers were only partially solid objects.

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
(2024 Configs) - The normal pace lap starting grid position has been moved to the straight after Pouhon.

Road America
Track surface bumpmap has been regenerated.
Signage and bridge textures have been updated.
Terrain colors have been updated to better match the grasses.

Hi y'all. I've recently been bitten by the racing simulation bug, though previous to now I've only dabbled in racing games with a controller and not seriously. With that said, I'm looking to get into a simulator that actually emulates "realism" as close as possible because if I'm going to spend time with it I want to eventually get good at it. Haven't purchased yet, some questions

I'm obviously on PC, so if I need to buy a racing wheel, what brand is the most stable wheel that doesn't cost a ton? Also, I have an old Microsoft Sidewinder wheel/pedals that I pulled out of the basement, is that usable or do I definitely need something new? As for the actual game, are there a lot of people that just drive to create pileups or is the game fun to play as a noob? Was hoping I could use the Sidewinder but don't want to buy the game and find out differently. Thanks!...

So is this game just for wheel users?

I can't really use a wheel, so I would be a controller player. I love racing managing like tires, and pit stops and such. So saw this game and everyone saying you need a wheel. Is that really the case?

Best FFB settings for TM T300RS?

I'm quite new to the SimRacing genre, and haven't had a hardware wheel since the old days of Ridge Racer on PS1 in the late 90's. Anyways I'm setup with a Thrustmaster TM300 RS and pedals, and was curious what the optimal FFB settings between device and in-game settings should be. Below are screenshots of my current settings. 2024 Season 4 Patch 2 Hotfix 1 Release Notes [2024.09.25.03]

This release is a Hotfix that contains important fixes and some additional updates for the 2024 Season 4 Patch 2 Release.

SIMULATION:--------------------------------------------------------------
iRacing Weather System
For Forecasted Weather Mode, fixed an issue where cloud cover and rain predictions were being calculated incorrectly in the short term.
- - This fixes an issue where the Spotter would continually call out upcoming weather changes incorrectly. Please be advised that your Spotter is not a meteorologist - he’s just doing the best he can.

Heat Racing
Fixed an issue where the track surface temperature could spike an extra 45°F if a Session within a Heat Racing event was skipped. This is not what was meant by “heat” racing!

Graphics
Fixed an issue with rain-enabled car windshields where extremely dramatic and opaque sunspot shines or shadow flares could appear on the glass.
Fixed an issue where chrome and brushed wheels could appear black in interface images.
Fixed an issue where some cars appeared to have lost their windshield glass in the paint shop.

Audio
Improved the sounds for rumble saw-tooth curbs.
Fixed an issue where many engine starter sounds would fail to play.

Telemetry
Some values for the Push-to-Pass system (P2P) have been added to telemetry.
- - P2P_Count = Displays the total number of seconds of P2P remaining.
- - P2P_Status = Displays if the P2P system is active.

CARS:--------------------------------------------------------------
Lotus 49
The brake bias adjustment increment has been reduced from 0.5% to 0.25%.

McLaren 720S GT3 EVO
Aerodynamic drag has been increased slightly, clutch inertia has been increased, and engine inertia has been decreased to match information from McLaren.

NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Camry
For the damage model, fixed an issue with the attachment points for the front fenders.

NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen Ford Mustang
Adjusted the lighting properties on the metallic nose strip.

NASCAR Xfinity Ford Mustang
Adjusted the lighting properties on the metallic nose strip.

TRACKS:--------------------------------------------------------------
Daytona International Speedway
(Road Course) - The slowdown penalty at the first left curb in the Bus Stop has been relaxed slightly. Drivers now need 2 tires in the grass at the center of the apex to trigger the slowdown penalty.

Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg
For all configs that use the main pit lane, the safe entry rule has been tightened up. Cars now must clear the racing surface before the green painted area.

Watkins Glen International
Some missing water drains have been added.
