I have a very large main monitor in a multihead setup (2560x1600). Darkest Dungeon started in fullscreen, but the video was scaled down to a much lower resolution and occupied about a fourth of the monitor, and was vaguely in the left hand side of the monitor - vertically it was down from the top but not quite centered.
The cursor was changed properly, but it did not seem to be able to pick up the mouse being on top of any menu item - unfortunately could not progress past the title screen.
I don't run one of the mainline DEs, i'm an i3wm user, and can't quite try it in GNOME at the moment, so this may be a possible reason.
I managed to make my window manager turn the DD window into a windowed one, but scaling the size of the window made the game video push too far up vertically so only half the game was showing, and still the mouse wouldn't hover over anything.
Looking forward to this still! Let me know if I can add any more troubleshooting info.
Correction: Not always. It says "back 2" for Highwayman, but "back 1" for the rest of the characters I've seen so far (Crusader, Vestal and Plague Doctor).
Screenshot of the issue would be great. Also system information from Steam->Help->System Information.
Info:
The Linux Beta installed fine. But right after leaving the town for the first time and entering the first dungeon, the map is empty and i can't navigate.

---
edit: after returning several times back to the main menue and continuing the campaign, the map shows up
Issue:
Map is blank (with the exception of the icon to Center on Party), preventing player from selecting rooms to progress thru the dungeon.
Occassionally, quitting game ~ 3 times will resolve.

I have a problem where the alpha on the game cursor doesn't seem to work correctly. The cursor is only transparent on the left half of the cursor and is instead white where it should be transparent on the right half.
