Yeah for sure... First thing first.. I recommend using a tactical shield. It gives you the most options.
Okay first what works early on in the game really changes from what works later on at endgame.
So you said earlier stages.. where you might only have fire and ice and maybe kinesis.
You can really just PEW PEW PEW missile attack repeatedly earlier on and it will win. If you want some big dmg then drop a Control ICE Pool and a Destruction Fire CRIT pool and it will pretty much annihilate anything.
Moving on to later game. The two most OP sigils are Phase and Kinesis.
They both do BIG dmg on their own and both have the best CC in the game.
Kinesis give you AOE while Phase gives you time slow-mo ...
For either of these sigils put Mastery on a Missile or Lob, Control on the Nova and Destruction on a AREA or Trap.
If you like Synergies: The best are
- SuperNova - Fire synergy (with Lightning)
- Singularity - Kinesis Synergy (also with lightning)
As for other options well there are HUNDREDS and for info on those a more specific question will be needed from you..
Have a wonderful day.

Im unsure what you mean by Aimed links?
Do you mean like the "Aimed" prefix to missile shapes that add a homing ability?
or links like using Destruction Lightning to chain to other enemies?
Or linking domino like attacks with kinesis?
help me out here :-)
Yeah still unsure what you mean but i can talk about blinks.
So there are three types of shields in this game and depending on which one you are using will enable you to do or NOT do quick blinks and charged blinks.
Agile shield: So this shield lets you do unlimited Quick blinks by just tapping space bar, And you can do charged blinks by Holding spacebar and then releasing it which will set off your NOVA spell.
Tactical shield: This lets you do charged blinks only. No quick blinks.
Strategic shield: No charged blinks, And only 3 quick blinks with a short cooldown between each three.
So if by Aimed links you actually mean Charged Blinks then you might be using a strategic shield. Try switching to a Tactical shield or Agile shield.
Good luck
There is exactly what you are hoping for. When you complete the story it opens a new game plus hub with access to various difficult dungeons and the tier of loot goes up to 20. You can alao play through any part of the game you wish via fast traveling and best yet all areas you goto now will scale to your current gear level.
Playing through the game takes about 8hr to 25hrs really depending how well you do, how skilled you are, and how much extras you choose to complete or ignore.
"Endgame" becomes more about exploring and experimenting with the crafting system and eventually becoming straight up godlike in terms of how overpowered the dragon is. The extra levels are pretty alao. Keep in touch and chat often.
But the actual question bothering me right now (and its probably a very noobish one) is how do you block spells? I've came upon some situations were there were a bunch of enemies shooting a barrage of missiles at me and even though I used the block skill they still went through (not sure if the block thing is for melee attacks only). I also tried dodging/blinking but it doesnt seem like its the right way either, so what am I missing here?
Hi Might! Don't feel embarassed for the questions. The learning curve is almost totally verticle at first, which is why lots of questions are totally undersatndable and why the game didn't catch on the way it should have.
First off, this thread links to 4 guides that will be /huge/ helps.
Now, for your questions, you can start crafting as early as you like (as long as you have the needed components). The first map introduces you to many of the concepts (often not very well) that you'll need to craft spells effectivly. I'd say wait until you get a tutorial prompt to create a spell with the alignment the tutorial covers. Fiddle with creating a destruction spell after the destruction tutorial. Control after the control tutorial, etc.
On blocks, your options are controlled by the type of shield you use.
Strategic: Tanked, longer shield regen time, 3 quick blinks before recharge, galvanized block (fires a nova when you time the block right), no charged blink nova.
Agile: Weakest (but can still have tons of HP), quickest shield regen, unlimited quick blink, no galvanized block, charged blink fires nova.
Tactical: Mid-range on hp and recharge. No quick blink. Easier galvanized block. No blinking (if I remember correctly).
I think most players prefer agile or tactical.
The shield's innate attributes (probably won't be anything with white spell level shields) and the attributes of the augments you use determine how much damage gets blocked etc. As far as I know there's no difference between blocking ranged vs melee.
I stronly prefer agile because of unlimited quick blink, charged blink novas, and super fast recharge. And I honestly don't worry about configuring for damage absorption. I focus almost entirely on the Sheild Health attribute. I want to crank that agile as high as possible and trust that it'll hold me until I can get to cover or a lull in the fight for 1.5 seconds for recharge to hit. I should experiment with damage blocking percentages (since they're basically the other side of shield health, but I haven't at this point).
Now, the biggest thing you need to understand and that will keep you from quiting in frustration is that to effectivly be a bad@$$ mage, you /must/ use mastery, control, and destruct spells in conjunction with each other.
My guide covers that in details, but here suffice it to say that mastery is a massive damage multiplier (as in orders of magnitude massive), control stops/slows mobs (and control can multiply your damage big time too), and destruction, well, destroys.
You can make your way through the first map or two without using mastery, but if you don't use it on the snow map boss, you've basically got zero chance.
It's a deep game with LOTS of different avenues to rain wrath and hell down on your enemies.
Does that help? Other questions? I'm actually going to post a question to Warrax under this because I'm still having trouble getting how damage timing works with the Phase sigil.
Wow thank you so much for your reply! I've actually wanted to buy this game for years, but Im ashamed to admit that the Mixed reviews made me doubt at first, so I left it on my wishlist and sometime later when I decided to eff it and buy it anyway I couldnt anymore because Steam changed the currency to that of my country instead of american dollars and this game (like many many others) didnt have a price anymore because it had to be established with the developers or something, so for a very long time it was "un-buyable"...
And last week because of the sales I checked my wishlist and there it was.. ready to be bought! So I wasted no time this time, and the point of all my rambling was to say that even though I still have a very long way to go Im already in love with this game and Im very happy there's so many dedicated players such a yourself and all the others making these awesome guides and answering questions!
The crafting system and combat mechanics make the game, which is why a few of us stick around. The crafting is complicated and deep, and I figured it out on my own a long time ago but it probably took me half the campaign before it all clicked. And that was back when there WEREN'T any guides or ingame tutorials. On surface level, it can appear very messy and convoluted and unintuitive, even though the game tries to explain things to you using ingame tutorials and the journal.
Just a couple points to mention: 1) READ THE JOURNAL when you craft. This is not a suggestion. Do it. I still do it every time. You aren't going to memorize what stat does what for each augment attached to each shape attached to each sigil. RTFM. 2) Go to controls and choose "toggle sprint." Without sprint, you move extremely slowly, and move somewhat slow even sprinting. You need sprint on, ALWAYS. Your character has no stamina, toggle sprint on and keep it that way. You will need toggle it on every once in a while, like every new area or new chapter.
This is great advice but i also want to add that even despite this there are still alot of nuances regarding the augments specifically that we "the community" are the help for..
Also we help out with keeping you away and saving you from getting into the bad stuff in the game like necromancy and the ray shape. TeeHee
