Hum, I don't have this issue so must be on your side to be honest, on my machine it runs properly.

I have the same issue - just freezes at the open menu - it isn't on his side, it is a common issue. I can't get past the menu regardless of which executable I use.

I don't have such a problem. I think it's more of a driver problem.

I got it working great on Windows 11. Just close steam, run steam as administrator and launch game. Runs perfect.
Guys, help, the game won't even start.
Works perfectly on Linux with Proton 9
https://thebeginning.uk/ go here, download the multiverse launcher.
Freezing here too. I got through 4 levels finally and now it's back the the same thing.
Same here
runs fine for me on win 11 pro, without compatibility settings, or running steam as admin (which shouldnt be done).

does everyone here have the direct x version needed for this game (dx 9 or 7) and w/e runtimes?

not sure what runtime it uses (tried looking it up), but everyone should have all 22 currently used ms runtimes, ranging from 2005 - 2013 (x86/x64) and the last being the combined 2015-2022 (x86/x64).

you can grab them all using an AIO (all in one installer), running it, allowing to remove all current runtimes, then installing the runtime package and after its done, run windows update to make sure they are all up to date (even if you have to check windows update a few times).

if all else fails, using the compatibility settings and set it to an OS the game would have been running on, might run better than allowing to run on the current OS, on your pc.

or, you can look in the guides section, as i seen mentioned of some launchers and odds and ends.

i also grabbed the other 2 (first and second ones), but run fine, though the dos box version they use is crap, they have nothing showing key controls and you are stuck with arrow keys instead of wasd, also cant seem to use the zoom function (on the second one).

with that said, the first 2 are editable as they use plain text, so you can edit the config files.

the third, not sure, havent seen any plain text files so far, might have to look into it further.

edit: it has a few plain texts, one being dxcfg.ini, that can be edited.

you can also check the guide sections, has a few tips on getting the game running, if needed.

have a nice day
