How to improve equips from a compenion?
I tried looking for it didn't find anything, thought it wasn't my problem. now much later the compenion still wears rubish, that gotta change

how the compenions can use better armor?

in the inventory or the trading screen in town there are arrows on the top middle o fyour screen, you can switch characters to give them better gear that way.

The companion/family member does have to be in your party, not somewhere else governing a fief or running a caravan or leading a party.
