The game requires OpenGL 3.1 on both Windows and Linux.

Mouse issues (lag, not working): please read the included "readme.txt" in the game installation folder on how to use to NOSMOOTHMOUSE command line option.

Bugfix early access: right click on Desperados/properties/beta branches, and just opt-in to the "publicbeta" branch. Most fixes go up here days before going live, but please note, the "beta" label comes with a certain risk of malfunction. This week: the Windows version got a compatibility fix, if you had trouble with starting the game (black screen and/or not responding), please try this branch. Thank you for your feedback!

Second mission: after you blasted the wagon with the machine gun, and the wagon falls apart, you must exit the machine gun before the conversation starts. This is a known issue.

There are some glitches and strange occurences that are "native" to the game, meaning they were present in the original edition as well. Some of these are non-blockers (like some teleporting enemies after certain cutscenes), some of them are (like the stopwatch crashing the game under certain limited circumstances). If you encounter them, please consider some of the workarounds outlined here in the forums, or restarting the mission in question. Doing a level over often solves the problem.

Laptops: If you're playing on a laptop with an Intel Integrated AND a dedicated GPU, please try running the game using the latter. You can set this in the appropriate (amd/nvidia) control panel entry, or navigate to the game's folder, right click on desperados.exe and choose "run with...". (There's no reason it should not work with an up to date driver on Intel Integrated GPUs, but usually people have more success using the dedicated GPU.)

Linux: Desperados is a 32 bit executable, therefore it requires libsdl2-2.0:i386 . If you're using a really old computer with no native OpenGL 3.1 support, you could try setting the environment variables "MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.1" and "MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=140". (You might need to turn the Steam Overlay off for this workaround to function.)

Windows: some 3rd party virus scanners interfere with the game's launch process. Try disabling them temporarily, or better, make an exception for desperados.exe.

Common: you can adjust the aspect ratio of the game in the settings. It's a known issue that the background graphics sometimes disappears when changing graphics settings. Just resume the game and everything will be back to normal.

In the unfortunate case of having technical issues with the game, contact us at the desperados [~ AT ~] nordicgam . es email address. If you're on windows, please also include the "log.txt" file that you can find in the game's folder and a detailed information of your computer (especially video card type and driver version, or a model number of your laptop). Running "dxdiag.exe" and then pressing "save all information" will give us the most detailed hardware data.

If you have a reproducible error, and have a save game for it, it'd greatly increase our chances (and diminish the time required) to find the problem. Save games can be found in:
