Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Python script error
So, I just started a new game, made my character, listened to LaCroix's crap and as soon as my character walks out the door (right before Jack starts talking) I get this error:

'Warning!

It seems as if an important Python script has not been compiled correctly on your system!

You are probably playing inside a Linux Wine environment without running from Loader.exe.

Find Loader.exe in the main game folder!'

Game is up to date, running Unofficial Patch 11.5 +. Running the game with Steam Proton 7.0-6. Verified game files and that came back fine. I am running POP OS (an Ubuntu type Linux) my system is fully up to date. This is not my first playthrough on this install and I have never seen this error before, I have changed no setting for the game. I have always been able to play the game from Steam, I have never had to use the 'loader.exe'. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Update So when looking over on moddb.com VtMB page for the unofficial patch, seeing if someone had posted about the same problem there, I saw that the 11.5 unofficial patch seems to have had an update since I played last, so I updated my 11.5 unofficial patch to the newest 11.5 version still using Steam Proton 7.0-6 and the game would not start at all. I uninstalled and deleted the whole game folder and started from the beginning, install game, run game, install patch with Protontricks, add launch option -game Unofficial_Patch -console. At the end of the patch install when you can check the box to run game with patch the game starts just fine (at least it gets to the main menu and lets me change options), however when I tried to open it with Steam it closed right away, so I verified the files and that was fine, so moved on to what version of Steam Proton to use, started at Experimental and worked by way down, all those them crashed until I got to 4.11-13 this one kinda works all the but the left of the screen is black with white around the outer edge, Steam Proton all the but the left of the screen is black with white around the outer edge does the same as 4.11-13, I did get the game to start with Steam Proton 3.16-9. As of right now the game is running and so far no Python error.

Try removing d3d9.dll from the main game folder, it's a DX wrapper to fix water reflections and it might not work out with your specific Linux setup.

Like I said in my updated post after all the stuff I did the game does run without a Python error, however instead of being able to use a newer Steam Proton I have to use an old one (3.16.9), also something that I did not add to my update in my first post is the game randomly crashes when I zone, I have taken if saving right before I zone so I don't have to do stuff over. Could removing the d3d9.dll file fix this as well?

Also sorry for the long winded update in the first post, but I wanted to get as much info in as possible.
