Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Game keeps crashing whenever I try to play
It doesn't crash when I boot it up, and the character creator + opening cutscene works fine, but once I'm actually supposed to play the game it just crashes. I'm playing with the unofficial patch and a bunch of updated texture mods from nexus. Even with all my mods turned off, it's the same issue. It also crashes when I launch it from both steam and from vortex. Any help would be appreciated, and I'd be willing to provide any information necessary to help.

Thanks!

If you didn't add
-game Unofficial_patch
to Steam launch options, you aren't actually playing the unofficial patch. You need to add that if you haven't. And if you launch it from Vortex, it probably needs to be somewhere there too.

Still just crashes, unfortunately. Nothing changes.

Just to make sure cause i wrote "Steam launch options" so it might have been confusing...

You clicked properties on the game in steam library, and under "launch options" in the window you wrote that line right? You didn't open Steam with those parameters right?

Also delete all saves from before you patched, they are not compatible anyway.

Yes, I did do that exactly

It was patched from the moment I first opened the game

Maybe the texture mods are not turned off correctly. Bloodlines is known to crash if the texture size it can handle is exceeded!

Just checking. Cause i wrote it weird, i thought you might run Steam with the launch parameters instead of the game. :P

Try doing a clean install. Uninstall the game, remove the remaining folder, and only install the game and the unofficial patch. Then add the launch options to the game, and try running it. If it works, go from there, install texture packs and what you want.
Then you'll have a point of faliure if you do it step by step, you'll see which part makes it crash.
And of course, don't resume your save games, always start a new game with a new patch.

I had same issue. Figured out I had to change resolution as it was too low for my rig. After changing to 1920x1080 and relunching the game, it worked.
