Do I need to win all previous missions to unlock Mission 36 (et al) reward?

Do I need to win all previous missions to unlock Mission 36 (et al) reward? I have beaten 36 as well as 35 and a few beyond 36 but I have not unlocked Merlin.

Can you restart your game and see if you get it? Try beating it again. It's a bug we're trying to pin down

I re-started this morning and now have the rewards. Thank you for the quick response! I must say that this game is addicting.

Hello, i think I have the same issue. I can not unlock some heroes, because I can't get mission 36. I opened 4 or 5 human heroes, but I cant get the one from mission 36 because I do not know at what mission I am now or how to advance. What do you mean by restart? Restart the progress, start from beginning?

Missions are the campaign (not adventure mode). How do you mean you don't know what mission you're at?
