A mediocre survival horror that aged like milk. The story started in an interesting way, then at the end ended in a comical way. The dialogue is abysmal (if you thought that RE1 OG dialogue was bad wait to hear this one). Finally the gameplay is mediocre at its best, the enemies (i.e shadows) take too much bullets, and every time they respawn again whenever the player re enters the room. The orientation is bad, you could never guess where to go because the directions and items explanations are vague and useless.

If you want to try it, buy it on a deep sale. The nostalgic flavor is wortheless. Stick to Old School Resident Evil games & Silent Hill games because they are the best.

The only pro in this game is its atmosphere, especially the Morton`s mansion, although unfortunately it was rushed when designed. It will remind you of the spencer`s mansion in RE1.

In general, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is a mediocre survival horror game that peaks on nostalgia and uniqueness.

Be warned that this game could have compatibility issues even if I didn't experience any besides a single crash after a cutscene near the end of the Carnby run. Maybe I was just lucky or my hardware is outdated enough to run it smoothly, but in any case I always played it at 60 fps (the cutscenes are locked at 30, tho) in fullscreen 16:9 without stretching.
About the game, more than one person says it's just a cheap copy of Resident Evil, especially RE1, but that's the reason why I love it so much and I personally consider it the best game in the series.

P.S. If you're going to play as Aline Cedrac (2nd playable character) I dare you not to constantly look at her huge cake. It's impossible!
