To access it, please right click on EARTHLOCK in the library and choose Properties. Then choose the Beta tab and type in the code:

We are soon to remove Earthock: Festival from the store. If you own the game at this time you will still be able to see it in your Steam library, but we will no longer sell it or support it with updates.

At the same time you should now see EARTHLOCK in your Steam library.
In an hour you should be able to download and play it.

We have read each and every review and spent the last 13 months improving the game.

We will continue to read all the feedback and though we are now starting the production of EARTHLOCK 2 we will continue to fix bugs in EARTHLOCK 1 should any be found. We are also adding more languages in a patch in the near future! (See launch update)

As we go forward with the development of Earthlock 2 we look to the feedback and experiences from Earthlock 1. Some feedback and suggestions given to us over the last year has not been possible to implement in the extended edition, but we surely will consider them for the next game.

The Extended Edition of Earthlock (aka Should-have-been-edition) is ready for launch on March 8th. The game will cost $29.99 but anyone who has bought the original version Earthlock: Festival of Magic before March 8th will get the new version for free. After launch, we will take down the store page for the original version, but the original version will still be available in your library if you own it.

We are in the process of getting all the various languages translated. Unfortunately it looks like many translations will have to be patched in after launch.

Here is a status list on translations.

We had to re-launch Earthlock as a new game since it was not possible to make it save game compatible with the original version.

We are very happy to announce that we will be relaunching Earthlock in Q1 next year. The new version feels in many ways like a new game!

In fact the changes are so big that there was no way we could keep it compatible with existing save games. In order to avoid problems where a patch would void all save games, we have set up a new game: Earthlock.

After we completed the PS4 version in January 2017 we began pre-production of Earthlock 2. However after a few weeks getting super excited about our next game. We realized that we were not comfortable leaving Earthlock: Festival of Magic behind as it was. A lot of the criticism we had gotten on the game by then were things we agreed with. For the initial launch we had to make quite a few cuts during the development and some of those cuts really hurt the story.

Long story short; We decided to make what we ended up internally calling shouldhavebeenedition. That way we could leave Earthlock 1 behind us with pride and begin work on Earthlock 2.

The subtitle Festival of Magic was an old remainder from our first kickstarter campaign and felt obsolete, so we decided to cut that, leaving us with: EARTHLOCK.

So what have we done in the last year?

• Story: It’s massively changed. Almost from the start. We have added more depth, humor and character to the story and things that did not make sense before now do.
  
  
• Crafting: At Plumpet Island, we are happy to report that all buildings on Plumpet now have some kind of functionality.
  
  
• Side quests: Yes, there are now side quests - as initially intended.
  
  
• Mini Games: Like treasure hunting
  
  
• New scenes and characters
  
  
• New and better animation
  
  
• Improved cut scenes.
  
  
• And much, much more.

Important to note: Anyone who owns Earthlock: Festival of Magic will get the new game for free (Steam/GOG/PS4/XboxOne). The game is now in final QA and localization and will be published in Q1 2018.

Today we have added a patch that makes it possible to sell items in the various stores in the world.

We have also added a speedup to combat so everything goes faster.

We have listened to feedback from several users and lowered the cost of changing stance during combat. Previously the cost was one round, and if you equipped the QuickStep talent, it would cost 0.5 rounds. These values have now been halfed to 0.5 without the talent and 0.25 with.

The change should allow players to better explore different combat tactics.

We have also improved stability in the Franirs dungeon and Nadir where some players were reporting a black screen freeze bug. (A warm thank you for all those who helped us track these issues)

Today the game was patched with a freeze bug fix that some low end computers were experience. We would like to thank user [ENTE]aufmKopf for extensive help tracking down this bug!

Expect a rather big improvement in frame rates and improved stability.
We have basically gone over every scene in the game and tried to increase the visual quality and also improve the performance.

We have also addressed a problem with where the character might fall through the ground at random places. This is due to a bug in the character controller in the Unity game engine. We have not been able to fix the bug, but instead created a workaround. If it happens, the character should just fall a little bit before we reset the ground collision and teleport the player back.

A lot of the combat VFX’es have been updated as well both to look better and to run faster.


Code / Bugs:

• New death volume to fix unity bug where character can fall through the floor at random locations.
  
• Turned off occlusion on all cameras. (Should reduce crashing on some rigs.)
  
• Fixed colliders to avoid getting stuck.

Optimization:

• All scenes in the game has been optimized for improved frame rate.
  
• Water reflections has been adjusted in some scenes (no longer reflecting things that can`t be seen).
  
• Elements no longer cast real time shadows when those shadows can`t be seen.
  
• Realtime shadow casters adjusted to avoid unnessecary performance drop
  
• Most VFX has been edited for improved visual quality and optimisation
  
• Removed DoF from all combat arenas.
  
• Smoothed out camera nodes.
  
• Burning Desert - many models rebuilt with better UVs and textures for higher quality and added LOD for performance

Improvements:

• Earthlock artifact new animated texture
  
• Zaberium Temple Combat arena retextured
  
• New improved camera bloom
  
• Plains Overworld is now more lush with vegetation

ESRB rating content adjustments:

• One short sentence in Gnart’s journal has been removed*
  
• One out of over 150 VFX changed to avoid “Animated Blood rating”

* Here is the sentence that was removed: "I wish I was home with a nice wheat beer."
