Warehouses are ugh.
Does anyone else think the warehouses are just too big for 5 items? And what's up with it raising the ground when you place it? Is there some more advanced machine that just draws from the warehouses?

I tend to agree with this, they are way too big

i am having a Ghost Warehouse thing....it is not useable but it is still loaded in lol

You can only place one warehouse in the starting area because of the small land area. But there are other areas where a base can be built that can accommodate 3 or 4 warehouses. But I agree, virtually every structure in this game, especially warehouses and power plants, is way too big but he's trying to make it somewhat realistic. Although being able to carry tons of ore in your backpack is hardly realistic.

IMO warehouses need exit points so you can direct items to other machines. Just seems to make more sense for a warehouse to supply demand from other equipment besides just the work bench.

I never had any problem (during the demo anyway). If you need to supply something then just have your production machines send into it. Letting warehouses supply it is just magic that lets you have machines running on nothing anywhere you want. It would remove the challenge.

too many buildings are too big. and i wish machines had more input and output slots

I don't mind the size, just because the functionality is so useful for building, but some kind of an output would be nice... though that would require adding more ports to the model. Maybe a reskin of the basic storage container that you can set a filter on to magic a specific item type out of your warehouse network ("distribution center" or "drone hub" or some such).

Yeah, they do tend to take the space that would be useful for other purposes. But also, I'd like a warehouse with only 2-3 slots. It's such a waste to drop a 5 slot warehouse where there are limited resources, and you're only producing 1-2 items to go into it. Unless you want to place loooong long belts from another areas.

+1 for the outputs on the warehouses

Yes, just several outputs with filtering or switching of what is in the warehouse. Thus, the same item or different ones can be sent to all outputs.

I would personally like to see the ability to place a limit to how much of a specific item is kept in the warehouse. That way it wouldn't get overfilled with a single commodity. Unless this option is there and I just missed it.

Warehouses are fine given they clear the area around them. Just stick them in a mountain and it makes space for you. Their isn't a singular base location in this game so build them wherever.

Smaller and with Exit points.

Warehouses are too unrealistic. They essentially allow you to teleport items directly into the player's inventory. But if the game has teleportation technology, then what's the point of all the conveyors? In future trains? Even in the same planet colonization. This is the moment I don't like the most in warehouses. There should be flying drones that take goods from the warehouse and deliver them to the construction site - both for a regular building and for megastructures. Foundry does this well. It would be realistic, but of course less convenient. But on the other hand, the player could unlock teleportation technology closer to the end of the game to take items directly from warehouses at any distance. That is, this feature is available, but not immediately.

What they ought to put in is an upgrade path for the warehouses. Apply the extra resources and automatically transform the warehouse from one type to the other.
