Alas, it would be great if there was a simple hack which just allows you to increase the windowed resolution by powers of 2.
I can't see the text and it hurts my eyes to play. I have 40 hrs in this game and I did enjoy it back a few years or so.
So why can't I force it to remove the bars when I could before?
What I do to make the game playable at all (on my large screen) now is to start the game launcher, move the launcher to the upper left corner of my screen, change the entire desktop / screen resolution to 800x600, then start the game in full screen.
This way you can't switch between applications anymore, but that's bearable since most of the time I don't need to - either I play or I do other stuff. Not ideal, but workable.
In Ubuntu go to settings and change Zoom - work ok - or change resolution.
you probably have an LED screen so "change desktop resolution" should NOT be done it will not look right for any app or win10. use only NATIVE resolution - likely the default.
Zoom desktop worked perfectly. Didn't even know that was a thing. Thanks!
