Having the same problem, get the white pattern screen with the black loading blocks going around in a circle. Then I get the pop up about accessing the steam commuinty, then the screen goes black and I am looking at my steam library again.

Same this really blows, been this way for like 6 hours. I've tried every method in every crash thread.

Edit: Some guy said he put it in windows 7 compatibility mode but when I try to do it everything but Windows 7 & 8 are list under the "compatibility" tab, so I couldn't try that.(if you're running Win 7)

was having the same issue, fixed mine by right clicking game in library, going to properties, browsing local files, once your in the game folder look for the "config" file and open it, look for
"{fullscreen}1" and change the 1 to 0 so the game will launch in windowed mode. Now you can either keep playin in windowed or fix the resolution in settings till something fits your screen correctly.

Most games that dont launch (in my experience) is something to do with your screen resolution and the default game resolution not pairing well so it instantly minimizes or crashes. i get this a lot cause i play on a HD tv.

FIXED! Got mine going by putting the executable into compatibility mode for Windows 7. Full screen and running great.

Yeah i'm getting the same.
New game > Insta crashes on start > Worst $10 ever spent > Not even sure if worth persuing how to fix.

Ok how I got mine to load, is that I edited the cfg file and changed the graphical options to 0. i.e. shadows, windowed mode etc... then it launched fine.

Okay, so we've just had this same problem and managed to fix it using a workaround based partly on this comment earlier:

In your game folder where you find the "config" file, you need to do one or two things with the "DotP_D15.exe" file. First, you may need to check the game for compatibility issues (right-click the filename, click Troubleshoot compatibility, and run the wizard). Once you've done this, you need to right-click the filename again and click Run as administrator.

I don't even see a config file.

I think I found a solution to the problem in the config file set the aa(Anti-Aliasing) field to 0 and it should work just fine the Anti-Aliasing system is janky for running the game on Windows 11, my graphic card happens to be intel iRISxe and it works like it is supposed to just don't turn on Anti-Aliasing in the game or in the config file or it will freeze

Fixed my issue, not with any of the comments here, but with option 3 in this reddit

Pasting here in case it helps anyone.
Unfortunately, this didn't fix this same issue for a different game
