Troubleshooting
Hi Guys,

Here's a small F.A.Q to hopefully resolve some issues. We'll be adding to this and expanding it to include more questions and answers as time goes by.

Q. Why wont the game start?

There are a few causes of this issue.

The first thing you'll want to do is verify your game cache etc. You know, the usual 'Steam wont run my game' fixes, like making sure your Steam client is up to date.

Sometimes, depending on your hardware and operating system, the 'Data Execution Prevention' (DEP) system will trigger when trying to launch certain games. Your computer thinks you are trying to run a malicious program, and stomps on it. To make an exception for Pool Nation, follow this advice:

Go to Control panel > system & security > system > advanced system settings > advanced tab > In performance click "settings" > data execution tab, Make sure its set to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services exept those i select:" .... Click "add..." at the bottom and add the Pool.exe, Click apply, Click ok, The game should now work!

For the pool.exe look here > Steam\steamapps\common\Pool Nation

(Extracted from this thread on the subject )

If the problem still persists, try running the pool.exe file directly from your steamapps folder, rather than clicking the 'Play' button in the Steam client. (Or running the game from the desktop shortcut if you created one when installing) This solves the issue for some people. You may, depending on your user and security settings, have to right click the .exe/shortcut and select 'run as administrator'.
As a variation of this fix, make sure you are running Steam as administrator (either by having administrator privileges on your windows account, or right clicking and selecting 'run as administrator' for the Steam client itself).
