Why does the DLC assume I don't have this game?
I own Commander: Conquest of the Americas Gold but when I go to the Commander: Conquest of the Americas store page and the DLCs' store pages it suggests I need to buy Commander: Conquest of the Americas to add the DLC on. Is this version of the game not compatible with the DLC? I'm guessing this is an older version of the game....

Both versions are stand-alone, as far as I am concerned. Gold is published by Topware, the non-Gold is published by Paradox.

This, the Gold version, has the DLC included. The DLCs being sold are for the non-Gold version, the base game, which is also published by a different company.

AFAIK, the only difference between playing the Gold version and the base game + DLC is that the latter has achievements, whereas the Gold version doesn't.

The same thing is true for this developer's other games - East India Company and Pirates of Black Cove. Although EIC has no achievements in either version.
