Which port is best?
I wanna buy this but I'd like to know which platform has the best performance.

I don't know which one but this is why it's not 1:1 to the Naomi/Dreamcast version.

PS4 version is the one more faithful to the arcade (Naomi) version

Xbox Live version has some differences from PS4 version that are minor for survival but quite important for scoring. Main ones are:

-Chapter 2 Boss cores can be damaged at the start before the shielding covers are closed

-Chapter 3 Midboss rotating bits spin in the opposite way

-Chapter 3 final bonus round enemies (right after the midboss) have an entirely different spawning pattern (and consequently can be chained in an entirely different, and easier, way). This is the difference that impacts scoring the most

-Chapter 5 final big enemies cannot be approached up close preventing optimal dot eating and thus slowing down speedkilling (e.g. on Normal AC max chain is 114c instead of 118c)

For more info about the game overall, and about version differences too, check the Ikaruga shmupswiki page: https://shmups.wiki/library/Ikaruga#Version_differences

Honestly, this one is the best for quick play if you cannot afford the Dreamcast or Gamecube version.

Yeah I can't justify the price for the GameCube one, and I don't own a Dreamcast so this version will be great. Thanks for the information.

I own the GameCube version but I probably have it since 2006.

I would love to own the Dreamcast version but I sadly no longer own one.

You're welcome.
