My name is Filip and I’m the Game Director of Shadowveil.

Welcome to 1.1 our first major update which should make the game it's best, listen to the video where I also talk about some important news, so please watch the entire video.

This patch should help the game feel more complete, give more build/experimentation opportunities and hopefully just feel better!

However with patch 1.1 also comes the closing of a chapter.
Patch 1.1 will be the last content patch for the game. We have one additional patch planned, 1.1.1 that brings additional QOL and bugfixes, but that will be the last patch for the entire game.

It’s been a privilege to work on Shadowveil, its been an absolute blast to take part of the Legend of the Five Rings universe, and the team and I are eternally grateful to you, our community for supporting us in creating and launching Shadowveil.

This means Maximum Embark slots has been reduced to 7, down from 10.

  Defense gained increased to 30 up from 10.
  Unlocks in chapter 5, up from 1.
  
• Hida Logistics
  Unlocks in chapter 1, down from 2.
  
• Reinforcements
  Cost decreased to 2, down from 3.
  Unlocks in chapter 2, down from 3.
  
• More Reinforcements
  Unlocks in chapter 3, down from 4.
  
• Extra Reinforcements
  Unlocks in chapter 4, down from 5.
  
• Critical Reinforcements
  Cost increased to 4, up from 3.

For save files with points invested in any of these Advancement you might see a shift in which Advancements are unlocked now. Worst case scenario you'll have to invest two Political Capital to re-learn one of them. This was the only way to restructure the tree without making a huge investment in rebuilding the save system, or invalidating save files. Sorry about the inconvenience.

We've just released Shadowveil Patch 1.0.6!

This patch includes a rework of the achievement system which should enable everyone to gain achievements correctly!

• Added some missing quest item icons
  
• Added a icon for “entering sub-maps” node

• Updated how achievements are calculated and rewarded, this should fix achievements issues. If you have already unlocked an achievement it should now pop as soon as you start the game, or in the watchtower!
  
• QoL. Map improvements: Quest nodes are now different if they lead to a separate quest map or not; Shadowveil entry and exit nodes should now be way more clear and easy to understand.
  
• Updated tooltips for several node types.

• “Corrupted Spirit Champions” no longer has a dash and are slower

The fastest player in each part will have their chosen alias(*) and represented faction immortalized in the game(**).

* Winning players will pick an in-universe name fitting for Legend of the Five Rings (respecting the setting and naming conventions of the universe). Players can not use the names of named characters in the franchise. The dev team and partners reserve the right to vet names before implementation.
** The winning players will be named in the game on a permanent “Heroes of the Wall” banner, visible at the Watchtower of Wistful Strife.

Runs must be performed on the latest patch of the game.
Mods or external tools that alter gameplay are not allowed

We just launched version 1.0.4, and it includes a lot of updates and optimizations. See the full list below!

Shoutout to the player community in the Shadowveil Discord[discord.gg] and Shadowveil Steam Forum for providing bug reports, so we can continue to track down and eliminate issues. You're true friends of the Crab Clan!

• There is a softlock that can happen when entering the Shadowveil and exiting the game to main menu. When in the Shadowveil try to complete the entire path (so you are back on the main map) before exiting the game. This can also happen when using camp in the Shadowveil. For now try to use camp in the main map only. We are looking into hotfixing this next week!
  
• There is rare random crashes during battles which are hard to nail down, as above please report it on discord to help us solve them!
  
• Resolutions with 16:10 or other less common aspect ratios may have issues with the UI

• Added a missing event in earlier versions

The fifth patch brings the fifth optimization package. This time, further work has gone into VFX (details below) and a large rework of how UI is loaded to save RAM and VRAM.

• All VFX in the game has been tweaked to be more performant
  
• Fire effects are now more fiery!
  
• Optimized UI RAM usage.

We've changed the rendering mode for many particles from "Translucent" to "Masked" due to how particle-heavy many fights can be later in the game.
Translucent particles cause heavy overdraw (re-rendering areas where they are) due to how rendering works in modern game engines - "Masked" materials, on the other hand, don't have this issue.
To retain most of the transparency, we use something called "Dithering" (basically fading into dots), which does cause some graininess but is a good trade-off performance-wise.

• QoL: Updated descriptions and breakdowns for Berserker's Rage, Besiege, Burning Blossom Trap, Push Trap, Slash, and Earth Becomes Sky
  
• Event Ancient Temple now gives Kakeguchi's Bane at the end of the run
  
• Changed what text is Header and Support Header in Fortitude Rewards
  
• Changed camera for card rewards depending on act
  
• Changed the skylight and the map FX to reduce rendering issues
  
• Changed so events stores all event options so that the “not selected” exclamation mark is correctly shown
  
• Changed hovering enemies and inspecting shows only relevant stats
  
• Changed so Corrupted Spirits show Evasion instead of Defense on hover

This is the fourth optimization package that touches on many areas of the game, our tech and art wizards have in some areas and settings lowered required RAM and VRAM significantly. We are currently in a much better state than we were 2 weeks ago, but we aren’t done yet!
We have also added a large package of extra graphics settings to make it possible for you to customize them for max performance!

• Tweaked Skylight settings on all lighting scenarios to match each other (Removed Realtime sampling)

We just released another update to Shadowveil: Legend of the Five Rings!
As the result of many players sharing reports of bugs, we've identified and fixed yet another bunch of issues.
